Been there.
Done it twice - 70 & 71.
Not exactly "fun" but it leads to better things.

Some of my USAF buddies went through Lackland AFB. Most complained about the heat!
My own basic training was at the newly-built Parks AFB near Oakland CA. 1952. Much nicer weather!
However, my luck didn't hold. I was later stationed at Brooks AFB in San Antonio during one summer, so I got my own dose of Texas heat!
Then they sent me to Alaska to cool off!

Appreciate the responses. Thanks! I kinda got choked up and wet eyed when I saw how many of you are Air Force and Air Force alumni. Thanks again.

Mr. Wayne more Congratulations to your Son. There simply cannot be any better young people than those that volunteer for service to their country. I have a son that was at Lackland in OTS. Now a retired Lt. Col. His daughter, my granddaughter just graduated from Navy Officer Training School last week. She followed her Mother's family, all Navy.
Myself, also a Lackland beginner, Aviation Cadets, summer of 1955. Best thing that ever happened to a dumb East Texas backwoods kid. y1
These kids today are a fine group of people. WALK PROUD!
