Title: LA Heat update
Post by: frank carlisle on October 13, 2009, 03:26:29 PM
I think this is the third year I've been flying the LA Heat--so far I have maybe two dozen flights on it. It's hard to get the right time and place to fly a model this big very often. At least it is for me.
I got it out a couple weeks ago. Rick Sawicki got some video of it flying.
I've had a problem with the outboard engine conking around hour glass time. I have it traced I think to the fuel tank for that engine. We'll see.
In this video I managed to get it pretty lean so it's moving along at a pleasant clip. It was the first time I ever worried about keeping a tight grip on the handle.
Here is a link to the You-Tube video--

BTW---Eric at RSM will be kitting a .15 size version of the LA Heat. He's named it the LA Warmth. I got a picture of the framed up model that I'll post here.

Frank,

Nice flying. How much longer is your arm?

Also, possibly for you... Hint: The "Hobo" is coming!

Tom N--Hobo huh? Kit? Plans. Or is it your own one of a kind?
Yes David you should finish your LA Heat. At the very least send me some pictures of where you're at with it.

I finally got to witness LA Heat.  By comparison everything else is just an airplane...

I've a pair of FP 20 BBTU --- wonder if that would overpower the LA Warmth ? I'm also in the process of building a classic legal twin Flight Streak ( plans from John Miller aka Joe Belcrank) -- sure do love the sound of a twin.

Frank,

"Tom N--Hobo huh? Kit? Plans. Or is it your own one of a kind?"

Not one of a kind, new concept, no other hints at this time.

The "Hobo" is coming!

The big thing will be fitting them in. The inside is 1 3/4 ".
