Was there ever a mounting bolt template for the La 46? Ive always found marking the holes on the motor mounts accurately a frustrating endeavour.

Sure. Check out Lee Machine Shop in the vender section. He lists motor mount drill guides.

Kevin,
Another tool that I've used for marking holes and getting holes drilled accurately is the Great Planes "Dead Center Engine Mount Hole Locator". This tool can be used on a variety of different engines.

Thank you gentlemen. The only hobby shop left in my city actually had a hole locator locator in stock, saving me a month of waiting for it by mail.

I use a homemade transfer punch, OD is the hole in the engine lug, grind a point on the end (as close to center as you can make it), 8" long, so it centers up and then leaves a divot when you tap it with a hammer.

Personally I find a problem with the Great planes one I have. If the exhaust is a little long it puts the device on an angle. So not true Center.
