King Orange Internationals
Possible Change

Many years ago when the X-47 Flyers from St. Augustine, FL. took over the KOI it was held on Martin Luther King weekend in January. For many years we had some great flying events and others not so good. We had Saturdays that were stunt heaven and over night it changed to "what happened"?
Several years ago the First Coast Control Line Flyers received the event from X-47 Flyers. Some changes were made, including changing the date to the second full weekend in December. Since then we had better flying weather even though it was cold. It was still better then trying to fly in high winds. With the date change we lost several flyers due to winter weather and pre-holiday commitments.
Therefore, I'm proposing we make another change to bring back the flyers we lost and possibly gain some more. We are looking at either September 7-9  or September 14-16, 2018.
Awaiting your response and suggestions  via e-mail: gmflying@bellsouth.net
Thanks.
Gene

Gene,
Works for me, I think we would have some better temperatures. Since the Palmetto, FL contest is the first weekend in November you might consider the earlier Sept date to give some time between events.

Hi Gene, I've always wanted to attend the KOI Contest but haven't been able due to work and Family commitments. If you move the date to September I could make a serious attempt to get there! Our closest in date event would be the NVCL contest which is the fourth Saturday in September. So I vote to move the date to September but not right on the Labor Day weekend.

Sept. 14 - 16. Moves it further from Dallas and I'd like to make both.
I may be wrong but I doubt it.

Moving the date  would be great. I attended for 30 years but as I got older going to a meet in cold weather turned me off. Do it .

I will go whenever it’s scheduled.
I would like to point out, though, that those dates are the same time frame that Irma came to town...
Have an, ummm... rain date in mind.

Later edited to add:

SWMBO just reminded me, we’ll still be in Maine in September. I won’t be able to make it.

Warmer is better keeping the contest consistently on the same dates seemed to be the key to having a good turnout when i ran the koi.I will be there no matter what the dates are

I like it.  Just make sure the earlier date is not labor day weekend or those of us going down 95 would get creamed by traffic.
