Take a look at this FULL BODY YAK 9 D and tell me if it would be something you would definitely like to have. This is the Quek YAK 9 D. I am posting a couple of pictures of it to give you an idea of looks. Thank you Wynn Robins. The Wingspan is 54 1/2". Just trying to get a feel from you guys to see If I need to go further with this.
Thanks

Just so long as it is not just another profile!!!! Enough with the profiles already!
That is a nice looking plane and I would build one. RJ
-
No Bob, definitely not a profile. When I first say this plane I really like the lines. I want one for myself. I found a paint scheme I really like that I want to do the prototype in. It is solid white with just the red stars on the fuselage and wings... looks really sharp.

Hi Russ
Does the bouncing smiley face mean you would buy one if I do the kits?
Thanks
Mike

I liked it well enough to save the article when I ran across it soime years ago. Then ago, I do that a lot ...
Not sure how "scale" it is in appearance, but it does have nice lines for a stunter.

Hey Mikey! I want one too! Don't care about the price. I know you'll give us a fair deal. Larry #^

I like it very much!!! #^

This plane has beautiful lines and I want as many people as possible to be able to enjoy one. You just do not see a lot of fullbodied YAK 9 stunters out there. It is also a great sport plane. I need the orders so I can get the CAD work started and get in line with the laser cutter for a kit run. If you want on the list, please just let me know and I will put you on there. Larry I already have a definite from you so you don't have to say yes again. CLP**
I set up a dedicated e mail for YAK 9 orders. It is yak9@wingsonstrings.com. Just make sure you give me your complete mailing address including zip code.
Thank you all...

Is it classic legal. Article says 1971.
-
Dave Day was going to ask Mr. Quek when it was designed and/or built, but I guess he did not get to see him. I think it possible that it's classic legal, but so far no one's informed me either. I've liked that one since Gary Tultz gave me plans for it. I think my plans are 2nd generation, since there's some distortion. The plane certainly falls in the Classic mold.

The Quek YAK 9 was first built and flown in 1967 according to Robert Compton who was able to get in touch with Henry Quek. This makes the plane classic legal and nostalgia 30 legal.

Hi Mike,
Very interested in this model! I got the plans from Neville Legg in the UK and I have the Aeromodeller magazine it was published in. I had serious thoughts of having a short kit cut for it.
Very nice looking stunter and i would love to build one.
Will this be a "complete kit" minus hardware? (ie: blocks and sheet wood?)

John Miller will be doing the CAD work on this project and he will be getting back with me sometime today with some specs on the plane. All I know right now is that it has a 54 1/2" wingspan. Should have some more info for you all shortly. Looks like from the responses I have been getting, this project will be a go...thanks guys.

This is a great color scheme for the YAK. Looks really sharp.

Hi Mike,
In my reply I asked about what would be included in the kit. If you are making it a full kit and will have 4 lb. blocks and sheeting included, put me down for one.
I can easily do with out hardware such as the control system.
Bill
-
I will put you down for one Bill. It will be a full kit. I never put hardware in my kits. I do put the landing gear and canopy....
Thanks Bill.

Since I already have the plans, I might make a canopy plug from the original drawings.

I think someone asked about the power used in the original.
It used a Merco .35 Red Head.

This is a great airplane to model and I do love Warbirds!
I have some of the vinyl graphics for Russian Aircraft, including the Yak, Mig 3 and a few others.
Available in paint mask also.
I'm looking forward to seeing Mike's model develope!

Howdy Chris. Is that Eddie Andrini's Yak??
If so, I saw it at Half Moon Bay right after it was uncrated. Very cool plane. Those colors would look very striking in the air. If I didnt have so many planes started I would consider building one. As it is, there are a set of Charles Parrot's P-40 plans on the wall that keep calling my name, and a brand new Super Tiger .46 that would love to be fitted in the nose of that bird.

Barbarossa is definitely a great paint scheme for the Yak! (and I love RED stunt planes!)

I think I am going to build two of these. One in the red and yellow scheme as shown is above post and solid white with panel lines and the red star. It is my understanding this was a winter color for the fighter in Russia.

This is my YAK 9 built from scratch from a Cardinal wing and the rest is my own idea. It is a completely take apart (2 panels wing) Brodak 40, 11x4.5 cyclone prop, Randy's needle. 52 oz. and 60 ft eyelet to eyelet. It flies very nice and they tell me that it looks beutifull from outside.
I am building an electric version but radial engine and to me it the most beutifull plane EVER!!!
I take two kits if you go ahead.
There are many around in the USA museums, the one I know it is in the Boeing museum SEA.

Email sent. I'll take one too.
