Best guess right now is I will make it down there late Friday evening, assuming the storm doesn't do anything crazy.

I will be there Friday afternoon unless the snow storm is more powerful than predicted and it traps me here at home. I may have to hang around and help the wife get out of the driveway in her mustang so she can go to work.

Looks like great weather for Saturday and Sunday, lows in 50's (bring a sweatsuit) highs near 70. Winds both days 5-10. Friday will be "breezy" (a technical weather term for @#%XX bad wind conditions) likely a good BS day.

Best,        DennisT

Three years ago I went to the KOI and here is a  picture of my Juno siting on top of the car before I tried to get it in the back seat. That was a bad plane from the first flight and I never got it working and trashed it for parts. I have another Juno and it is 24 years old. I rebuilt it and it is sitting in my Explorer ready for the trip. Flew it Saturday and it needed no adjustment,it flew just like when I put it away 20 years ago.

Hi Lynn,

No, it's not the weather that cancelled our trip.  I would actually love to come down, but it is just not to be at this time.

I hope everyone has a great time and a lot of great flying takes place!

Circumstances dictated that I also had to cancel the trip. I really wanted to be there. Hopefully next year things will allow me to go.

Here's some pictures I took during KOI.  Saturday was wind all day until 4:30 when I pulled my airplane out and got some practice in.  I'm pretty sure I got the most practice flights in that day with four. A couple small trim changes and I was good to go.  Sunday, I got one practice flight in with Eric Viglione.  Then when I went to start the engine on the 2nd practice flight, it backfired and the prop smacked the knuckle of my index finger.  I was and still am ok, and the prop is fine.  Official flights came, and on my 1st official, the motor was running a lot longer than it did earlier in the day now that it had warmed up, and I came 2 seconds from an overrun.  That flight had me in 2nd most of the day until Eric bumped me down to 3rd with a killer 2nd official. I still qualified for the flyoff, and put in what I thought was the best flight of the weekend for me, and the score showed.  John Simpson also happened to put in his best flight of the day and beat me by 6 points for the crown.  Eric also had a good flight, but not as good as his 2nd official and he came up only 11 points short of John Simpson.

I had a great weekend and will definitely be there next year!!!!

See, this is what happens when you let people borrow your camera...

In any event, Da' Beard deserves it's own trophy, if not it's own time zone, for sure!

Derek's beard has that cool Jeff Bridges True Grit Look,

He could have entered and competed for the fly off slot, And a chance to be KOI 2013 champ, instead he passed on flying and volunteered to judge expert on sunday

That  shows "True Grit"

Derek and I judged Expert on Sunday. I was asked months ago to judge and the other judge had a family member in the hospital so Derek  filled that spot. We had judged together many times. I remember Derek flying in the KOI when he was a young boy. I had won Old Time stunt five times in a row at the KOI and he beat me in 1992 to stop the strings of wins n1

I think Alan was referring to my "dorm room special" ARF, that I took 3rd with in expert.
