At Don Adraino asked if I would be interested in flying at the Steam and Power Show this weekend with the circlemasters club. I really should join that club. It turned out (for once ) I had a free saturday morning.
http://www.sussexantiquepower.org/I was busy flying and helping out and did not take a lot of pictures, but here are a few.
http://outdoors.webshots.com/album/574387973sUmUyo It was real cold and windy, overcast and damp. But we flew anyway. I flew the slob several times and the combat airplane. Everyone had trouble with the wind and tress and buildings caused issues. The club flew a lot of kids also. Don had Eric Olsen fly his pulse jet a bunch of times. The Jet and my uncorked combat plane really generate attention.
I have been really beating on the slob, and the slob is really falling apart. Like 3/4 a gallon in the last 2 weeks. I counted 7 cracks in the spars. I think this winter I will either strip the covering off and beef up the spars or just light it on fire, and move on to the next one. It is oil soaked badly. ( A viking funeral, put a big number 4 on it and burn it on sunday afternoon Bret hint hint.)
The Slob did something funny today. After a few tight loops, the lines went slack and it slammed out at the end of the lines. It hit the end of the lines so hard, that the lines went slack and the cycle repeated. It took about 4 cycles before I could catch it. It hit real hard and I was not sure I would save it or a line would break. Good thing I pull test it....
The old tractors and sawmill were neat too After growing up on a farm it was neat to see them.
Got to meet a lot of neat people. All the circlemastes, Bob Gialdini was there, what a nice guy.
