kenhi Panther (midwest)
« on: June 15, 2015, 08:21:41 AM »
A long bout with Vertigo has forced me out of CL. I have  no materials left as I sold all that I could and then gave the rest away. However a recent look on Ebay  I spotted the Panther and bid. I now have it! I need advice on power Electric or Fuel? So how about a little help. If fuel I think a Brodak 25 will do nicely?

Thanks Chuck Feldman

I had a Kenhi Panther that I flew and competed with some years ago.  I think I sold it to some one that wanted it real bad.  My power was one of my better Fox 35 Stunts and I think a little stronger engine would have helped.  If you do not have the IC power I would suggest going electric for the ease of starting and consistency everyone talks about.  Glad to see you back and I promise not to bring cold weather to Florida again as my daughter now lives within 35 miles of me in Missouri.  Hope to get grand kids flying this year.

If you need help with the electric  set up PM Denny Adimisin who frequents the electric portion of this great forum.   Now this week most everybody is where I should be, Brodaks so called fly in.

Rusty.

It would be great help if you gave me some of the things I need. I would never ask for them. The kit will not be in my hands till next Monday. So after I look it over I get in touch with you.

Chuck,

When you're ready, I'll send you graphics and lettering for that model.

Does anyone have a photo of this Panther Chuck has?

Hi Chuck,

I think you will be happier with a little more engine than the Brodak .25 unless you build it very light.  Personally I do not think the Brodak .25 is quite as strong as a .25FP or .25LA.  The plans show the Johnson Stunt Supreme engine and I think a little more power is always a good thing.  I hope you are doing well, I believe we met at the KOI several years ago. I'll second that.  I had the original Kenhi version many years ago, with a Green Head K&B .35 up front.  The Midwest version has a much better airfoil, but mine literally seemed to fall out of the air if you tried to turn square corners or slow down too much.

I hope to build a Midwest kit in the future, but won't consider anything less than a strong .35 to .40 for power.  My 2 cents worth, but I'm sticking to it.
