KC Area Hobby Shop?
« on: October 06, 2017, 05:58:15 PM »
Wife and I look to be in the Kansas City area toward the last of October. Is there a decent hobby shop left that has a good selection of balsa/etc?

Of course, having some C/L products/supplies would be great... but like "yeah right" on that hope!

Thanks for any input.

Call Andy or Cary Minor. They live in that area. There's plenty of cl combat guys that would know.

Andre there is really just one hobby shop in the KC area besides the Hobby Town type trinket stores.  It's called Hobby Haven.  It's not really in KC but a Kansas-side southern burb called Overland Park. ( where my hideout is). They have a website you can google.  They don't really have much for CL but they are a Sig dealer and keep small amounts of wood,  dope, hardware etc.  They DO carry the Byrons fuel I burn in all formulas in gallons.  Also have APC and a few other props, glue, wheels, etc.

Unfortunately about all the other shops faded into history.  As a kid here I remember nearly a dozen full line hobby shops around the metro.  Hobby Haven is actually one of the originals in the area and Bryan the owner is either second or third generation owner of HH.  Real nice folks.

Thanks fella's for the input.

I may try to make Hobby Haven. Have to see if we have time or not once there.

As a young lad in the early 60's I lived in Shawnee Mission. Would ride my bicycle down to a small hobby shop on the square, purchase a .69 cent Guillow WW2 stick kit... peddle home and start building!  Fun times.

Anyway, thought if we have the time it would be great to browse n' buy at a sure 'nuf hobby shop again.
