Title: KC Area Control Line
Post by: john e. holliday on October 14, 2013, 01:27:52 PM
Mowed the circle last Thursday and put up some flights.   Went back Sunday and put up more flights.   Right now looks like flying will be done til next weekend as I started treatments on the knees.   Now how many control line flyers do we have in the Kansas City Metropolitan area?

Picture taken from where I park the old Ford.  It is the south parking lot on Commerce north of 99th Street  Lenexa Kansas.

Glad you guys have a field now. I still remember the old days when sunday at Swope Park there were lots of guys flying control line. But back then that was the only thing other than FF. Maybe some drive buys will stop and get interested. We can only hope.

Jim that's a good possibility.  I'm just finishing up two Flying Clowns to have in the car as trainers.  I offered to help any who work at the business (a tool maker for die cutting if you can believe) that got interested.  It's also a wealthy area of town with upscale business which could help.  Lets see,  kid in soccer or kit with airplane... MM ... hard choice?

Wanted to report today was the first 'official' flying session at the new flying field by the officers of the newest club around, the Sky Kings of the Ring ,  whose charter will go live this week.  The officers present were Jim Pescetto, Pres.,  Darwin Ulledaul, vice Pres.,  Doc Holliday, Safety Officer and field boss, and Dave Trible, Sec./Treasurer.
When I arrived Darwin had the Magic Mower going round and round dressing the circle.  For 1 1/2 to 2 hours the mower cut the circle with no help from anyone.  It's on a cable which unwinds itself and plays out just the right amount for each pass.  We readied our planes while the mower did a great job grooming the turf.

It was a great day.  Everybody took a turn on the Clowns and had some laughs.
All are invited to come fly with us and to join our club, even if outside the KC Metro.

Well Dave beat to the punch.   I took the wife out to eat as I had not eaten yet.   But I did get the shot of Dave's planes for the 2014 stunt wars.  Still have trim problems with Gotcha Streak and my Fox .25 has decided it doesn't want to run.   It was another fun day for me having, Darwin, Jim and Dave to fly with.

Looks like the KC CL Crew has come full circle (pun intended), and are back to having fun on a good flying site.  Makes me happy...wish I was there to fly with you for nostalgia reasons.
Best of luck to you guys.
