Title: K&B 61 Control line engine
Post by: Gary Anderson on February 13, 2007, 11:06:35 AM
Has anyone tried a control line K&B 61? Is this engine any good for control line? Do they 4 cycle 2 cycle the way the older motors do? The price is around a hundred dollars new. Are they worth the money or do they have to be reworked to be any good for stunt? Appreciate any comments and thank you, Gary

Large James (Big Jim Greenaway) reworked those, and K&B sold them as such at one time, I believe.  Mike Garmon had one he did which is still around.  I *think* Willis Swindell is using it in a Strega ARC.  ???

There is a Tom Dixon review which says it is exactly a Super Tigre 60 as to timing and performance.  One ounce heavier and  you have to drill new front lug holes to fit on an ST mount.  He did not indicate that any rework would be useful.  I took mine apart to "spruce it up" and just put it back together.  Haven't flown it.

Brodak sold a few K&B 61 before they went out of business They ran great with any fuel. The Gold twist head ran to cold with Fox Super fuel but they might be OK with a 50 50 mix, I just picked up one the other day to try. There is more information at the end of LA 65 in the Engine Set Up Tips
