Has anyone heard from Kaz since the earthquake and tsunami in Japan.
I tried e-mail, and have not heard back yet.

Hope he and his family survived without injury.

Concerned.

I am so glad to hear he is alright. Couldn't bear to think of losing the Kaz.

Hi Paul - Yes - like you I was concerned Kaz is a good friend of mine, I spoke to Kaz as soon as I heard about the Quake, I posted his reply here a few days ago to update the general stunt community.

I also spoke to Kaz 2 days ( March 13 )  about a seperate matter.

He is still fine - and is still able to supply stunt equipemnt, if required.

I have not spoken to any of the other Japan stunt guys tho.


I've got a few friends in Japan and tokyo, some are safe, most are scared...

At the RC forum, apparently, a number of the RC engine manufacturers are located not that far from some of the problem areas. They seem to be particularly concerned about Saito.

I saw a news item that a village named "Saito" was washed away in the tsunami; just gone. I was wondering if it might have a connection to the 4s engines. Let's hope not.

Good to hear Kaz is ok, and hope for the best for all the other modelers over there. Besides Mike's wife Mieko being in Sapporo, another buddy's daughter is somewhere in southern Japan, on a college class exchange thang...U of Hawaii...learning Japanese. I'm not sure if they have words in Japanese to express themselves in such a situation. Mike says there are no "swear words". How unfortunate...  :o Steve

Finally made contact with Kaz.
All is well, physically.
Lack of gas, electricity, and food though. These things he says they can do without.

I wanted him to know he had a place to go if the radiation levels kept increasing, and they were concerned.
For now, they are staying put.

He lives north and west of Tokyo. No where near the tsunami area, but they got the rides of their lives in the earthquake.

That is great news about Kaz.  Just hope all the other Japanese modelers are okay and I know Japan will bounce back. H^^

He was sure missed at VSC this year, I always enjoy watching Kaz fly.  He also happens to be a really nice guy.  Good luck Kaz to you, your family and all of Japan.  Our prayers are with you all.

Yes, Kaz and his family are safe.  We also heard from Masaru Hiki, who spent the first night in his Tokyo office since rail service was down and he couldn't get home.  A day later, he cancelled his trip to Tucson, saying he'd rather stay home and help where he could (quite understandable, of course).

Kaz and Masaru are among the nicest people in this hobby, and we can only hope that things soon improve for them and their fellow citizens.  The level of destruction and loss there is nearly unbelieveable.
