The system that i use for producing the composite fuse requires a team.
1) I farm out the building of a fuse to one of the cottage custom builders (Bob Hunt,Derek and Dale Barry Tom Morris)
The builder builds a typical wood fuse. All blocks are left solid and i request additional formers for stiffness. A proper center line is paramount.
2) The fuse is finished to a Nat's level smooth shinny surface Note this can also be farmed out to the best finisher in the group
3) install parting line NOTE: I use string or .018 flying line for parting line
4) wax and polish exposed fuse surface
5) Protect one side of fuse with duct tape and create a dam by outlining the fuse perimeter with 1/4"x1/4" balsa stick
choose your materials for female mold (i use fiberglass or tooling resin)
With a team approach you to can have composite shell fuselage
