Title: Kap-Pak Fuel tanks?
Post by: Target on April 19, 2019, 11:14:10 AM
Are the old Kap-Pak fuel tanks really brass? They say so on the box, but seems to me a metal tank from brass is a bad idea, heavy, and doesn't brass get attacked by fuel?
Maybe they are just plated to promote the adhesion of solder?

Thanks for the help!

Didn't Acme also make round brass clunk tanks that had a telescoping tube bent in a 90 degree angle that also swiveled  ???
Sure does seem to "rattle"  the old memory bank...

I think it was Demeco....Harold Debolt's company.
Not 100% on that though.....been several lifetimes ago since I had one.

material than the origional Debolt tank.

Your correct. It was made by Debolt and it was  featured on their Combateer model.I had 2 of them and they were actually really good at supplying fuel no matter the position of the model The fuel pick up swiveled freely and followed the fuel. The pick up was in the center of the tank and it had a slightly larger piece over it  The pick up tube was bent to follow the back of the tank and was slightly weighted to keep it immersed in fuel. Interestingly enough there is an RC supply Co that makes a series of tanks using the Debolt design. They are not cheap and they by all accounts are as good as the originals but better designs and material.
