Kansas City Fun Fly-in
« on: March 30, 2018, 01:50:07 PM »
Guy’s,  KCRC is hosting a Control Line Fun Fly-In, Saturday, May 19, 2018 at their Lake Jacomo R/C flying site in Kansa City Mo.  I would like to invite everyone so as to promote C/L flying in the KC area as we have done in the past with exceptional success.  We have a good variety of pilots established here and I know our neighboring  Kansas control line flyers who have high quality equipment and skills can offer to show their expertise’s.  I see a lot of ringmaster interest popping up here to help get people started.  We have national FAI combat flyers here in town for possible demonstrations of that type of flying and I have vintage G21 combat type planes to whiz around see if I can stay upright.  The whole idea is to get together, meet and greet, get some youngsters out there for some hands on aerodynamic fun and see who’s still out there wanting to smell the nitro and castor oil in the air. I would love to let the public see a good variety of what C/L has to offer the’ s day’s in the way of precision stunt, scale and high performance combat. If you have any questions please call me or one of the guy’s listed below.

Our son lives an hour from KC.  One of his sons will be close to 9 years old in May and I would love to expose both of them to Control Line, having recently renewed my interest in Control Line.  Our son is excited about the prospect, so I hope to see you there with my son and grandsons (the 8 year old is his oldest).

I plan on being there sometime between 0800 - 0900.   Hopefully the wind won't be as bad as in the past.   But if it is I now have planes for it.

The field is open as early as 8am. Park rules mandate AMA is require for persons participating in flying of aircraft. Exceptions can be made do to the  teaching and helping of non AMA new comers while being supervised by a club member. This is not an AMA event. KCRC members will be supervising. If the parks department Rangers stop by to check to inforce rules, we at that time ask for wavers for one day use.

I just want to be sure I go to the correct flying field.  On the KCRA website they have directions to "Charles Reed III Flying Field."  That field didn't seem to be at Lake Jacomo.    Could you clarify which field is the correct one and how to get there?  We will be coming down I-70 from the east.

Thanks,
Joe Ed Pederson

Hi Joe, Charles Reed III Flying Field is one of the names given over the years. That's propably the right address. Come to think of it I never new the address. Oh well directions from I-70 would be take 291 exit south. In about 2 or 3mi will come to Woods Chapel Rd exit. Turn left back over 291. Go through a couple stop lights about 1 mi to Reneau St. Turn RT. Field is on left down about 1/4 mi. can't miss it.

Correction: I misspelled the street name the field is on. So here be the correct address. 3581-3899 Rennau Dr' Lee's Summit, Mo 64064.
