Guy’s, KCRC club is hosting it's Annual Control Line Fun Fly-In, Saturday, May 18, 2019 at their Lake Jacomo R/C flying site in Kansas City Mo. Want to invite everyone so as to promote C/L flying in the KC area as we have done in the past with exceptional success. We have a good variety of pilots established here and I know our neighboring Kansas control line flyers who have high quality equipment and skills can offer to show their expertise’s. I see a lot of ringmaster interest popping up here to help get people started. Turns out we have a local flyer that has a lazer cut machine that is helping to promote building from scratch which helps control the rising costs and maintain building of of aircraft from the good old day's. We have national FAI combat flyers here in town for possible demonstrations of that type of flying and I have vintage G21 combat type planes to whiz around see if I can stay upright. The whole idea is to get together, meet and greet, get some youngsters out there for some hands on aerodynamic fun and see who’s still out there wanting to smell the nitro and castor oil in the air. I would love to let the public see a good variety of what C/L has to offer the’ s day’s in the way of precision stunt, scale and high performance combat. If you have any questions please call me or one of the guy’s listed below.

KANSAS CITY CLOSET CONTROL LINE FLIERS .............. GO FOR IT .........but leave the electrics at home. Dig that old Matt Kania Ringmaster / Fox .35, George Aldrich Nobler / Fox .35, Riley Wooten Voodoo, Sneeker, Vampire, Demon, Pirate, and a good combat engine out of the attic. ..... (my personal choice is the Super Tigre Combat plain bearing). I can tell that this is going to be a really fun day. #^ y1 #^ H^^ ..... But, since I gave up my AMA membership in 2014, I am sorry to say that I won't be able to participate ...... HB~>..........but, you can have fun anyway !

Damn, I have to work that weekend or I'd come down. I plan on going to Topeka's Contest and the combat match in KC in June however.

Since it's a fun fly there oughta be plenty of extra time to take pictures! S?P ;D

I would love to go as I have five ignition planes with Anderson Spitfires, Orwicks, Super Cyclones, and Atwood Super Champions. But, my back will not let me fly.
In my R/C days, I use to fly at there pattern contests. Made a lot of good friends there. Hope everybody has a great time.

Here's more details from our club liaison Jimmy C,
Kansas City Radio Control Association will hold another control line day at our field at Lake Jacomo in Blue Springs on Saturday, May 18.
This is not a competition but just a reason to get together and go round and round in circles. We did it last spring and had a blast. There is a $10 landing fee which will cover a hot dog lunch and the Park + Rec permit fee for any visitors.
Any size plane is welcome from your old Cox PT19 to your .60 size stuntwagon.
So dust off those U-control planes and come on out and bring your friends for a dizzying good time.
Time is sun up to sun down approx 8am to 8pm that's the park rules. Nobody seems to make much passed 4pm.
See ya there,
Darwin

Load up some pics Dar. I'll be working as usual. Have fun!

You bet Dave. Good to here from you. I haven't been able to fly anything yet this year.
-
Well Darwin can now say he has a flight in. This year was a little worse as far as weather. I manage my one flight fling the King Sweep. Now need new canopy as old did not like inverted landing. I think most of the guys got flights in. Jim Lee even came over from Topeka. Thanks to the KCRC guys for doing this. During the lunch break Mother Nature decided to make us call it quits. Heavy rains on the way home and I left the highway and used city streets as it felt safer with the way the people were driving. I know I didn't take enough pictures. Enjoy. H^^

Last Pictures. H^^
Last two pics is Darwin flying and his kibitzers. Had to get shots of the 1/2A's. Remember when a pint of fuel would last several flying sessions? D>K

Thanks for the pics Doc. It rained so hard for hours at work you couldn't see the hood of the car. Jim Lee's new airplane looks fabulous!

Man, we've got to order up some better weather for next years event.........maybe we can have 2 events per year. That would give us a better chance to hit a good weather day. D>K H^^

I was sitting in the shop thinking wouldn't it be great to make this a monthly thing for those that fly just for the fun of it. Or how many would attend if they knew there were no facilities on site. Us men would have no problem most of the time as there are trees and bushes close by. I related to one of the guys about how the foreign modelers at the 2004 World Champs in Muncie IN just used the edge of the fields most of the time as the port-o-potties was a long walk. D>K
In fact I would probably join the KCRC group. :)

Don't forget Sig is having a control line fun fly at Hazel Sig's airport in Montezuma, Iowa on June 14 -15 for those that don't fly F2D combat. See details at sigmfg.com.
3 grass circles for open flying on Friday and two circles for open and one for SL combat on Saturday. bobnelson@sigmfg.com or 319-239-5744. :D

Well, the old DOC is going to miss it. There is an F2D contest both days. It is at Fleming Park home of the KCRD club. D>K
