Doc, Terence, et al . . . .
This morning I received an email from Darwin Ulledahl, whom I don't know, that was telling me about a C/L fun fly, ie, no competition, this Saturday at the KCRC flying field at Lake Jacomo. There will be three circles, half grass and half hard surface. Starts at 8:00 am and they will have a hot dog stand for lunch.
The tag line on this was to try and get C/L going again in KC. This sounds great.
I'm sure you guy's know about this, but wanted to make sure. Darwin's phone is 816-868-4938.
See you there?

Hey, I am still waiting for you come by. Even have room for the folding chair in the shop as I have been getting engines ready for the bay. Have not made it out to the field like I want. But, the fly in is the same time as the Wichita contest. May not make either one. H^^

I went to this last year, except for high winds it was great. However this year it is being held the same weekend as the Wichita CL contest

Will we get a report as to how the day went at the Kansas City Fly in? What is the state of control line in the area as indicated by interest in this get-together. Health problems kept me from attending, but I, and possibly others would like to know how things went on Saturday...........TDurrill ??? H^^

Hmmm....leave you guys in KC alone for a little (uhhh 40 years) while and everything goes to Hxll.
At one time KC was close to the top of the heap in CL. I was a member of the KC Flying Eagles which was at least 60+ members strong and we all attended the local contests within a couple hundred miles as well as the NAT's. We had a flying field at City Park in KC Kansas, and a flying field at Swope Park in KC Missouri...(not that far apart). We had at least a dozen or more active Jr and Sr fliers (of which I was one).
I'm sure Doc Holliday remembers this era (he was there too).
It's sad to think that now there is very little CL activity there....How times change.

Hey Randy I remember the period of great flying in the KC area. The furthest one had to drive was the NATS or Wichita. Seemed like a contest every weekend with most right in the KC area. Bob G and Terrance D. did not see you guys out there at the field. I am going to start another post on the flyin. H^^

My life in KC was back in the 40's. Spent hours at Swope Park watching guys crank on ign. engines. Those pictures were etched in my mind forever as I was held spellbound. Maybe that is why I still love old sparkers. Any of you guys remember the street islands with the ponds where people floated sail boats on the way to Swope? As a young lad I was a dreamer, and all models were magic to me. Guess I still am, and they still are.
