So.... in between family stuff this weekend, I figured I'd get that hangar 9 arf flying again. I just wanted to fly something. It's been since November. Lol. All the repairs, then making / modifying a venturi to the correct size... got everything assembled and went to test run it. I had to free up the engine, it's been sitting in a box forever. The engine knocked like crazy and the prop shaft felt loose back and forth.... found out why. I found another engine and test ran it, but I'll need to switch the venturi. Oh well.

That's unusual.
Must have been why it was in a box. Lol

Ouch!
Mama said there would be days like that - she just didn't say there would be so many!

The crank is trapped in the front bearing, so it can't go out the front. It must be drivin out through the rear. Because of this, I'd say your fix is a "safe' bet......
