Just flying along in OTS!
« on: September 11, 2020, 11:01:20 AM »
Doing a pretty good pattern and just finishing my overhead eights when I saw my pilot bail out!    LL~  LL~

I guess he knew something I didn't know because a few seconds later the crankshaft broke.  :(  ~^  ~^

After around three hundred flights my 1950 Fox 35 took an early retirement.

Fortunately, I have a spare new crankshaft.

Did the airplane land OK after the engine failure?

The pilot in my RC glider did not eject.  The whole canopy fell off in flight and he broke his neck.  The doctor fixed him up with some glue and he's back flying again.

I'm betting the OTS pilot could feel the vibrations from the crankshaft when it started disintegrating.
I built a Blue Pants as a kid. Wish I still had it. Might even learn to fly it.

Those days are over, but I had a 90's Fox 35 break the crank. Sent the engine to Fox, they replaced the shaft and sent it back no charge.
