Title: Just a note
Post by: Randy Powell on June 30, 2008, 11:41:34 PM
Hi guys,

I will be posting here, but probably won't be doing much in the shop for the next 1 to 2 weeks. I had some surgery today and the doc would have my ears if I did anything serious that could screw up his nice work in that time. I'm limited to lifting less that 10 lbs for the next week or so and no more than 25 lbs for a couple of weeks after that. I'm pretty sore and don't feel much like it right now anyway, that's certain. I may be able to fly this weekend if I can get someone to carry my flight box.   ;D

Randy,

We have never met, but I feel that I know you from reading your posts "here and there".......

Take care of your "bod" and heal quickly.  We need to have you around for a good long time (like a Tootsie Roll).

Cheers,
Jim

Hi Randy,

Lots of jokes come with the statement that you can't lift anything over ten pounds. I'm sure you've heard most of them. So!!!!! I won't remind you of any of them, Don't want you to start laughing. I'm looking forward to your report of the up coming flight and how the changes work out on your new toy. I thought you would have chimed in on the price of a new toy but maybe your better half reads the forum. (Best to play it safe and not list the prices of all the items you use.) Scouts honor we wouldn't tell her, HONEST!!!!! I'll be praying for you but I don't think the face lift will stay. God Bless, Gary

Sheesh Randy, when you said you were cutting & patching your, uh, leadout guide I ASSUMED it was on the Shoestring. Never dreamed it was.. oh heck, nevermind.    :o  ???  b1  LL~

Sounds like you can still do 12 oz. curls, just catch up on your SN's, SNL's, and MLB!  8)

Hey Randy,
Sorry to hear that the butchers got to cuttin' on you.  It's happened to me several times also....Maybe it's the name.  Hmmmmm.
Oh well you'll be fit in no time just do what the "sawbones" says.
Surely you don't have any airplanes that weigh more than 10 lbs????  I'm the only one that can build that heavy.
Incidentally, I've found that about four fingers of good scotch is a darn good pain killer..... y1 y1
Take good care of yourself Pal We'd all miss ya'...

So...... 'ol Randy's out of commission for a while. Gives me the chance to get a jump on him in the shop. When he decides to build something, nobody can keep up. Gives me a complex.

Get well soon.

Thanks for all the nice words. I feel like I've been in a bar fight. And Ty is right, I can lift a bit (the 10lbs noted), but it's the sneezing or coughing that just gets you. I managed to sit on a stool in the shop for a bit and tinker with the new PA plane. Couldn't really do much, but I squared away a couple of small things. When I can stand for more than 10 minutes, I'll start on the fillets. Man, you forget how much it can hurt when you're just sitting there. Then you start to get up and Whew!

I can't believe you are just sitting there......... you know what the Coaches use to always say: "If it's more than 6 inches from you heart, you'll live",  "If a bone ain't stickin' out, you're fine",  "If the cut ain't squirtin' blood, you're ok"..........

LL~ LL~ LL~ LL~

Seriously (did I just say THAT??) do whatever the Doctors say.  They have been *practicing* so long, maybe they will get it right......  I asked my Doctor the other day about when he was gonna quit practicing and play the game.......

Bill,

Hey, I'm listening. Last week, I told my office, oh, it's just a minor deal. I should be back to work the next day. Yea, right. I had thought that I would be far enough along by this point that I could go back tomorrow, but clearly, I'm not ready yet. Oh well, they'll just have to do without me for another day. As my doctor said, you're not 25 anymore. It takes awhile to heal.
