Hopefully we will have the usual great turnout in this most entertaining event.
As most of you know, Joe Gilbert and his associates really raised the bar in 2009 and some real effort will be required to top it.

The gauntlet has been thrown down.

From what I've seen in running the event for the last 8 years, here's a suggestion: FORGET THE SMALL ENGINES. I have seen many attempts

with only minimally successful result - most won't even fly
Go for the biggest that we allow - a .25. In fact, find the most powerful 25 that you can - the FP seems to be the engine of choice.
No matter how much wing you have, no matter how straight you build, no matter what controls you use, these aerodynamic masterpieces (

) need one thing more than any other. POWER. You can't have too much.
Also, I would avoid the flying wing concept - although I have seen a few limp around the circle, most are just wasted effort.
Note that I'm making these suggestions to help more people enjoy JYW.
See you all at the Fly-In!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
