Two maiden flights this week
« on: May 18, 2010, 05:50:04 PM »
I put the maiden flights on my new Bi-Slob and Scared Kitten this week.  I am very happy with both to say the least.

The Slob is from a Brodak kit and is powered by a stock Fox 35 (of course).  Tank is a Sullivan round 4 oz. clunk type.  Covered with Ultra Coat.  Flying it on 56' lines.  I love flying Slobs!!!

The Kitten is scratched from plans.  Power is a stock Brodak 25.  Covered with silkspan and finish is all Brodak dope.  That short nose caused me to have to add a ton of nose weight, but the final weight is still only 32 oz.  It flys absolutely great (for an OTS plane).

I will taking both to the fly-in at Ft. Christmas, FL this Saturday.

I launched Scarinzi's Scared Kitten a few years back. With a screamin Fox, no muffler, mid afternoon in Muncie, hot & breezie, the day before Classic and Old Time. He does the whole Old Time pattern at WARP VI.  I asked him afterwards if maybe he should slow it down for stunt. He says," What...was that fast?"   LL~

Don'tcha just love Larry!!!!What a real character and one of the true legends of model aviation, not just stunt or combat. I have been fortunate to meet Larry at several VSC's, and at one of the earliest ones I attended with a friend of mine had ended, it was hot, the wind had picked up, an everyone had packed up and headed home, there was Larry with a combat model just cranking the daylights out of it in the wind, really getting it on, and we were in my van pulling out, but just had to stop and watch him!  What a great guy.

He also likes to  mow the grass with the plane at that warp speed.  The faster it goes the better he likes it.  Claims that is the way Old Time use to be flown.  He is a true legend and charactor still having fun. H^^

LL~ A real character of the highest order. Back when I was a district rep nominations were requested for PAMPA Hall of Fame candidates. Larry was my pick and although he didnt win that cycle I do believe he has become a member in good standing since then.  H^^

T.J.

The plans I used were from an insert in a magazine.  I think it was CLW, but I am not where I can check for sure right now.  I took the insert to a local print shop and had it enlarged to the proper size.
