Judges where are you
« on: July 07, 2009, 07:54:53 AM »
There are still two maneuvers over on the judging thread that have no comments.  Most of the comments so far have been on correcting the maneuvers and very little on what the judge should be looking for as well as point assignment.  DOC Holliday R%%%%

Some are having problems getting admitted to the Inner Sanctum, I reckon.

I would like to see more common errors posted, and if we're working our way through the maneuvers a bit gradually, I think that's fine. So, we'll leave a bit of stuff for the new signups to contribute. Okay! We'll also get to the Ofishul errors and the Judging Guide soon enough. The Judging Guide probably helps folks decide what points to assign? We'll find that out!!!

One thing that Bob Parker (who has judged at the NATS, TT's and VSC, and was invited to judge at a WC) told me was that the average of 10 and 40 was 25. Thought about that some. Yup, it's true. I look at 25 as being something recognizeable for what it is supposed to be. Not wonderful, no major fubars, but pretty much all there. But not crisp, not precise, no "sparkle"* and certainly not killah-dillah! Also, it didn't make the pilot check their shorts, or judges and spectators cringe with anticipation of crunching sounds. Know whut I mean?

I was kinda hoping that we could discuss Judging more....and piloting errors, trim and all that, not at all. But I think that's just too much to ask for. I guess it all goes together too well. But if folks start asking for specific trim problems with their new model, I can delete that!!! And will...probably move it to another forum.  :! Steve

I think your right ... you really cant have one without the other. But, I also believe the spirit of what is attempted in this forum can go too far, and those parts need to be moved.  Theres alot to be learned by pilots in just listening to whats being said on the judging side.  Lots of GREAT info that I wouldnt have picked up anywhere else.
