Jose Modesto Goes Over To The "Dark Side"
« on: September 25, 2008, 06:09:24 PM »
Hi To ALL,

Well, it's happened, Jose has gone over to the "Dark Side" and came out with an "Electric Genesis" so I thought I'd attach a picture from Wednesday's flying session at Flushing Meadows. Oh, did I mention the thing fly's great. As soon as he gets the speed worked out and slows it down it will be great.

Cheers,

After one year of waiting he finally flew it!!!! :o If Flushing isn't a rain out he better bring it!

Crist,
Jose or Bob can confirm, but I am fairly certain it is a copy of Hunt's power system. If not it is very close (slight battery and timer differences). The details have changed over the past year from Jose's explanation...... AXI 2826/10, CC-45, TP 4S 4200mah, Z-Tron timer.

it's Jose Modesto reporting from the Dark side
 Model: Bob hunt Genesis Extreme
Boby had some parts laying around in his shop and i was able to pry a couple of pieces from him.
No there are no plans for model.   Boby was kind enough to lend me his molds for the top block and molding the canopy section was a chore.
This model is diferent than the Genesis Bob used at last years team trials.the tail moment is 18" and larger stab and elevator
Motor: AXI 2826 10
Controler: CC Phoenix 45
Timer Sequencer: Ztron4
Batteries:Thunder power Extreme ve 3850 Mah 12.8 v 4 cell
Prop: 12x6 E APC
RPM 9,256
Batterie charges to 16.84v
Battery at end of flight 14.2V
I have flwn all of four (4) flights and the initial responce is that the plane may be special but must sort out Battery and prop conbination

Mike i need HELP come to Flushing or that beutifull yellow plane may be held hostage next time i see you. Lol

         jose modesto
PS: I painted all three new planes silver this year to reduce weight.
The Genesis weight is 52oz with fuel.

Hi Jose,
Obviously I didn't make it to Flushing, it is pouring rain here. One concern from your post is the battery voltage after the flight. Resting voltage 10min after the flight should be 3.7V per cell giving you 14.8V total (or more). Your voltage is 14.2, but I would also like to know what your putting back into your pack (no more than 3,100mah). Have you measured any temps after the flight? Looks like I will have to leave the Mustang at home from now on..........

The finish is gorgeous. Maybe I missed it, Joe, but what is de rigueur for paint nowadays
on electric stunters? (Does it need to be non conductive? Yuk, yuk..  why engineers
fail as comics.)

I can only imagine how beautifully it flies.

I read Mike Palko's new article in CLW and I want one of those setups for a T-Rex.

Mike

I just checked my battery log on my four 4s2100 mAHr packs after a flight. When I plug the battery back into my charger, I note the starting voltage (now this is typically several hours after the flight). I am seeing voltages of 15V (lowest was 14.9V on one particular pack).

I just checked a data recorder plot and see I am getting the 15V level within about 40 s after the motor stops (basically as fast as I can get to the plane and unplug it).

So I agree with Mike, you are drawing that battery down too low. You either need a bigger pack (most likely) or find a way to lower your power usage during a flight. Simple items like cutting flight time down (eliminating extra laps after the clover), shortening the lines (flight completes faster or you could slow airspeed down a bit) are two ways to go. Not sure if it is enough though.
