Title: Jolly old England!

Welcome to this wonderful forum. English yes I am and from SE. England Only trouble is now I have been in Canada Since 82 But do get back occasionally. From what I hear from my Friends Back home there are not that many places to fly in the South east anymore.

What part of the SE are you originally from, and were you in any clubs down here? Do you remember Elliot model engineering club EMEC, we flew all sorts of C/line at Rochester airport site. We had some superb rallies at that site.

I used to live in the Dartford area and used to fly on the heath and down at Danson park. I think the COSMO club is still in existance. My friend lives in East Grinstead and still flys occassionally. His son I know flies combat.

Off the top of my head the control line clubs I can think of in the South East are:

Three Kings (pretty general) - belong to this one
Milton Keynes (top level aerobatics)
Raynes Park

I'm sure there are others.

In the wider country Peterborough, Nuneaton, South Bristol, Barton & Novocastrian t-shirts were all seen at the Nats.

I have a club in Aylesbury who, on their website purport to support 'all forms of aeromodelling' but when I enquired of the membership secretary whether this included control line replied 'I doubt the existing members would like it!' - I could almost hear the comments about 'nasty niosy bricks on strings' being muttered.... I take it to the aeromodelling is synonymous with R/C ignoring F/F and C/L!

It is their loss tho as probably 99% of them couldn't stand up after flying a CL anyway. I am lucky in that the Northern Knights here in the central part of the USA even put a circle in for us to use and maintain. Maybe I can make it to merry ole England one of these years, but, I still have a lot of the good ole USA to see yet. Have fun, DOC Holliday

I'm the only one interested in C/line, and I take a ribbing for it, but who cares? I like all forms of aeromodelling free-flight, radio, C/line, I go slope soaring from time to time. But my club is more of the RTF radio type which a lot of clubs seem to be these days! They think I'm a dinosaur for using silk and dope, they think I'm a bit wierd because I can pre-tension a rubber motor! Maybe we are a dieing (is that spelt right?) breed???
I think the COSMO club does exist a small form!

Just thought I would add to this thread, for the benefit of folks in my area, who may be reading it.

Whilst not a "club" as such, when we are not at the Barton club site near Manchester, we have a fairly active little group of flyer's here in Chester with a choice of 3 sites to fly on - 2 of which are smooth enough for wheeled take off's !! Flying after work in the week is not uncommon.
