John Miller Pictures
« on: May 24, 2012, 09:21:30 PM »
On May 15, Gordan, Jim and I went to visit John in the burn ward of the U of U hospital, and I got a couple of pictures for you. The first one is pretty ugly, as we arrived at bath time. The red patches are where the skin came from for the various skin grafts John has gotten on his knees and hands. Maybe not for wimmin and chillin.

The second pic shows John all presentable, waving to y'all, interrupting his physical therapy, which is sort of a square peg/round hole sort of puzzle. I'm not sure why the blanket has a horse's rump on it, but it may have something to do with John's previous bad history with electricity?

FYI, I have a new in box Tom Lay ST .60 light case I will be raffling off, with all proceeds to go to John Miller. The raffle will start June 1 and raffle tickets will be $20. You can send checks to me at 2104 Aberdeen Pl. SE, Renton, WA, 98055, USA. Note that the current World F2B Champion used a Tom Lay ST .60! Make the checks out to Steve Helmick. The engine would probably draw $250+ on eBay...but I'd love to raise $1,000 for John.  H^^ Steve

Dang John,
How'd you get in such shape?
Take care, we're all pullin' for you in SoCal and seems like the prayers are working.

Same old John. Probably giving the nurses grief. Glad to see him smiling.

John is looking like he is in good spirits.   Nurses probably glad he can't chase them yet.   Now if he will follow orders and get well so we can see him at the circles again. H^^

By the way skin grafts are no fun.   Or even a meat graft.   Nothing like having legs tied together while the graft takes hold.  The wife had the hard job of cleaning it every day. D>K

Our best wishes here too to one of the best on-line friends one could have in modeling. John, you've always responded with interesting and caring model information and an equally adventurous mind. I do hope this time of pain passes rapidly for you so that you can enjoy friends and hobby unhindered soon!

Thanks for the pictures.  Looks like John is dealing well with the problems.  If you read this, John, get well soon!  We've never met in person, but phone chats have been great.  Hopefully we will meet face to face before too long.

Lookig back at the pics, looks like with the hand he could use a lap top while in the hospital.   If I was close enough I would try  to get one to him if allowed.

Get well Big John Miller and quit chasing the female nurses.   From the other Big John when I was in high school before becoming DOC Holliday H^^

FWIW, John had a crusty looking laptop there, but indicated that it didn't work. Not sure why, but my guess is that he spilled some apple juice or similar on it.

I've got my daughter's old laptop. If anybody local can make it work, I'll donate it to John. I don't have the charger for it, but that shouldn't cost a lot. I think it's a Toshiba. Anybody?  D>K Steve
