Dear Friends of Brodak Mfg. and John Brodak,

We would like to inform you of some disturbing news. John is in the hospital due to a heart problem, he is expected to make a full recovery after his surgery this morning. All went well and he is expected home soon. As friends of John’s, we thought that all of you would also like to be aware of this shocking news. So if you can keep him in your thoughts and prayers for a speedy recovery it would be appreciated, by us and most of all his family. Have a Safe and Healthy Labor Day Weekend!

Sincerely,

The Brodak Gang

Folks

It appears that John will be OK.

As one who is drawing plans for Brodaks, I sent a personal email from teh other side of the Pacific yesterday.

This morning, I received a reply which says, in part:

'John went to the doctors last Thursday and ended up in the hospital that night. He had a 95% blockage in his heart and they operated on him Saturday. He is home now recovering and has to take it easy for a while.'
Cheers

John is a good friend.

After speaking to him, I realized that he did not have a heart attack of any kind.  They implanted a stint to preemptively relieve a blockage.  He seemed in great spirits.

I told him to take the week off...

This prompts a question in my mind. I wonder what the succession plan is for Brodak Mfg. Left to the bean counters, I would bet that profit contributions of the modeling operations are slim or next to none and would prompt them to sell or shut down the operations. Contrary to the opinions of some, John Brodak has made significant contributions to modeling with his efforts to bring quality products to the CL modeler. Having talked with John about some of his products and seeing his face light up when he talks about the great stuff his group is working on to bring to market, its obvious its a labor of love.

Best wishes and a speedy recovery John.
