Title: John Brodak
Post by: Matt Colan on June 25, 2013, 02:30:39 PM
I got this email from Nikki and thought I would pass it along:

To try and answer the many emails and phone calls, please pass the following along:

As most of you may know...John had a tumor removed from his vocal chords before the Fly-In and had to go back in this past Thursday to have the remainder of, the hard to reach pieces, the tumor removed by a specialist. Yesterday John was informed that the tumor was indeed cancer....he states in his CLW Publisher’s Statement: “My doctors, family and I are confident that this can and will be eradicated”.

I was just informed about John’s appointment today: he will begin (on Monday) 29 treatments, 5 days a week of radiation. He will also have a scan on the upper part of his body to make sure that the cancer has not spread anywhere else.

We all know he is very strong willed man, but please keep him in your thoughts and prayers as he “Fights the Fight”.

I had a similar condition...Squamous Cell Carcinoma of the Right Vocal Chord..in 1995.  I also received 29 radiation treatments (the max allowed), going to the hospital 5 days a week for 29 days.  They told me (back then) they have been curing that type of cancer for 30 years.  After 30 days, my cancer was gone.  checkups several times a year for 5 years and everything was fine.  I have been cancer free for 18 years.  I will pray that John has the same luck that I did.

My prayers go out for John, Buzz, and the rest of the family and friends.  Many of us have met the "C" word in our lives and are now clean.  My thoughts are that John, too, will be free of cancer soon.  It takes a positive attitude and the help of family and friends to get through it.  But cancer can be beat.

Thank you Dick for your story.  It makes me feel optimistic about John Brodak,s outcome.  There are so many wonderful people in this hobby and I want them all to live long healthy lives.

P.S.  Anyone know how John D. is doing these days?  Send PM so as not to hijack this thread.

I only know John by his company -- but that's enough to know that he's somewhere between a pretty good guy and a saint.

I'm pulling for you, John.

Well said Mr. Wescott:

I agree 101% with you. IMO, CL would be long gone from the planet without John Brodak. He, IMO,  saved competition CL and I also will ask and ask again for the MAN - upstairs - to give John whatever he needs to weather this storm. THANK YOU SIR!

I had the pleasure of meeting John at this year's Fly-In. What wonderful guy!! He took time to visit with me and tell me about the model he was working on in the workshop. Hoss is right, control line in the US and worldwide would not be the same today if John Brodak had not come on the scene.

John, You are in my prayers!
