Hi Allen,
John's appointment with the surgeon that found his tumor was on Sept. 25. They did a scope and assured us it was gone. During the entire six weeks of treatment and the month following, we were under the false assumption that the tumor had invaded the vocal cord. It actually was sitting on top of the cord and had not gotten into it. Early detection was his saving grace. He never did have a feeding tube placed although it was suggested twice. He only dropped about ten pounds and has gained most of that back. His voice is normal and he is on a none restrictive diet.
The only lingering effect is his strength. He tires easily but the doctor promises that will pass. He will have to have CAT, and PET scans in the future and have his throat scoped every two months. They will follow his progress for the next five years before he is declared cancer free. When this all started he told me his next goal in life was to be a cancer survivor. With all the prayers, good wishes, and medical support he received, I believe he will reach that goal.
Love and thanks to all,
Buzz

I think of John every day, since I had a similar vocal chord malignant tumor in 1995. I'm still here!
