I was thinking about going to the Fly-In on Wednesday.

Will anyone else be going that day?

I am here now but i am leaving on Tuesday afternoon. Allen Brickhaus, Tom Morris, and a few others are coming in on Tuesday afternoon and Wednesday. If you have never been here it is WELL WORTH THE TRIP!!!!

I was going to make a post and state how big of a success it has been so far. The first day (yesterday) we had at least 40 people that have never flow before or use to fly when they were kids fly an electric trainer that Mark Weiss brought. I can't even begin to explain how well control line has been received here at the Joe Nall. We have three circles that are as good as anything else I have seen and I was promised that by next year they will be as good as the 18th green at the Augusta National.

Bob If I were you I would start packing now!!! This is an Awesome place to fly and promote CL!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

How did the video come out. I had a good one but It got messed up when I loaded it to the computer. I cut and pasted it instead of copying and now it is gone.

Not too bad, a little shakey on my part, looks like I was too close to get a good video of flight ,the flight was alot better than the video represents . Quit a crowd pleaser

Hey Derek do you or your Dad have the plans for that Sweeper? I have been looking for a set of plans that show the bult up wing.

Just talked to dad, he said that he thinks he still has a set. Hope you have a trailer to haul it if you build one.

Great job of flying Derek. Looks like the grass is well groomed. Now don't tell anybody but the AMA has the Sweeper plans by Urtnowski.

It worked and is still probably working out great as a trainer. When I left it had at least 100 flights on it, the majority were put on it by kids, newbies, and some old RC guys that had not flown CL in many years. Again I cannot explain how well CL was recieved at the HUGE RC fun fly. I must have heard "I used to do this when I was a kid", "this is how I got my start into flying" , I have not flown U control in 20 years", and "THIS IS GREAT" at least 100 times. Some of the Top names in RC were flying the Ring Rat and having a great time. There were also a lot of flights put on a Ringmaster that Dad built. This is one of the greatest things to happen to CL in years. I am sure that by the time it is over that little plane will have 500 flights on it. It had been crashed at least 20 times before I left and it was still going strong.

The Electric trainer in the photos flew very well for a trainer , It had a timer that can be set for one or more minutes of flight by just clicking a button( no Programming with a laptop or programmer , most trainer flights were 1 minute , just right for the retread . Several flights on one charge is a plus in big crowds .

I did a few stunt flights on it to see the potential, a full pattern was capable with a control horn adjustmant and a c/g shift . not a precision flight by any means , but alot of fun to fly good line tension fo a light electric plane . It could really be trimmed out and some minor adjustmants in line length and tip weight , it could be a very good stunt practice trainer , Very tough too

All in all the plane is a real winner, I really expected it to be less than ideal for a trainer and expected to use the glow planes more , No starting problems and the exact run times makes for a perfect and positive adventure for a newcomer or a retread.

Actually, The whole pattern can be done. On mine I put the battery under the wing and I use a 2 blade 8X5 park flier prop. For training I use a three blade 8X5 prop. But for stunting I use a Phoenix Thunderbird 36 ESC and a Hubin timer.. It can hold up better for a two minute runs. I do maneuvers after each lap. Here's a few of my early flights. I put two flights together to make up a whole pattern.

The sweeper was brought out of storage for the Joe Nall, had not been flow alot lately, Dale and Derek were still working out the bugs , very impressive model in person.

Below is a closeup of the model and shows how well the circle was groomed . Going to be even better next year
