It is with great sadness that I must report that Richmond Virginia's Jimmy Paul has passed away today after a brief battle with cancer.
Jimmy was one of the key people of Stunt in central Virginia since long before I was born. He taught me to fly stunt back in the mid '90s and has been a friend and mentor ever since. He will be greatly missed.

Say it isn't so.................... Jimmy has been a great friend for many years, I will sorely miss Jimmy. My prayers for his family and friends. This is really a bummer.

Sure going to miss seeing Jimmy and his blue Chipmonk. He never changed , all the years I have known him,

He was the same Jimmy, really, right up to the end. I called him from Muncie after I got back to the hotel from the first day of qualifying. He was worried a bit about his upcoming surgery but still in good spirits and keenly interested in what was going on at the Nats. Then the subject veered as always to football, etc. Jimmy loved to talk!

As I sit here planning to get ready for Jim Coll's Memorial I mentally flash ack to own early days in Stunt and especially the contests which the HAMS sponsored at Cumberland Valley HS, near Carlisle. I met Jimmy at one of these and several times since but my memory of him stays strong, Jimmy was the consummate Southern Gentleman. As I recall he flew his Chipmunk without its cowl. He was most cordial to me, a very pleasant man.
Jimmy will be missed.

I remember Jimmy flying his blue Chipmonk at the S.L.O.W. club meets at Anacostia AFB in the late 70's. It was a good to talk to him during those contests. We have lost a true and good sportsman. I too will miss 'icemanpaul' (his email name)
