Jim Van Loo published his article on the Mystere in the Jan 67 issue of Model Airplane News.  A nice looking big airplane, about 61" span, trike gear, swept tail, for .45's and up including a Fox 59 or even larger.

Then, Van Loo did the Mystere II, 55' Span for .29s to .40. Published in the Oct 70 issue of Flying Models.  Still a nice looking airplane.

Photographs are in the magazine articles.

I do not have anything on a Van Loo Mystery II.

Thanks guys. I have plans for the II. Was looking for plans for the I. And now I have pictures of both thanks to a PM.

I find a lot of listings for the Mystere II plans (and I have a copy of those) but I can't find plans for the first one. The big one. Anybody know a source?

    There was an article in Stunt News somewhere in 04-05() that had one of the Mysteres in it.It showed plans for it and the Chipmonk and talked about the aerodynamic similarities.I'm leaving for Muncie ASAP but I will see if I can locate the correct issue before I leave.Trax

I built the one of the original Mysteres back in the mid 90's for VSC.  Mine was powered by an T&L ST.46.  The plan is available through the AMA plans service.  It was part of the John Pond plan collection.  The plan # is 24948 and the price is $14.  In my opinion it is a better looking airplane that the Mystere II.

When I wanted to build one back in the 90's I looked all over...kinda of before the internet.  John Pond plan service was the only one who had it.  We are lucky that his family gave his collection to the AMA.  I wouldn't be so hurt about having to wait a month or so to get them from the AMA.  The real travesty here is the fact that Model Airplane News is still in business and does not offer all their old C/L plans.  There was a lot of cool stunters published in MAN over the years like Tom Dixon's Stilares that are hard to find.  I'd be more upset at MAN than the AMA.  It is nice to know that the Model Builder collection is available through them as well although there were not a lot of stunters published in that magazine.  Patience....

Not mad. Sort of bemused. The plan guy is on vacation and apparently when he's gone, no plans go out. I just thought that was typical of the AMA. What, you couldn't have some assistant send out plans? More funny, in a shaking your head sort of way.
