Brodak Spitfire Availability
« on: October 18, 2011, 07:06:10 PM »
For you stunt scale guys, I just received an E-mail from John Brodak that the Pat Johnston designed Spitfire that has been listed on the website as "not for sale" is back in stock and is definitely for sale.  CLP**

Does that mean a Spitfire is your next project?

Well, if I do it's still a ways in the future. I know a few have been built but haven't heard much about how they fly . Maybe I'll put it a bubble canopy on it and try and pass it off as a Sterling Mustang...NOT!  8)

Built one last winter, a great plane and a perfect flyer, kept the dehidrel at 1/2". Trimmed in 2 flights and is a great stunt ship. LA-46 11x5 APC prop.

Ahhhh, Inspiration! That's what I'm looking for. Looking good. Agree that the LA-46 would be a good choice.  8)

With a "low back", small bubble canopy and careful nose shaping, you could paint it as a Seafire 17
I built a Blue Pants as a kid. Wish I still had it. Might even learn to fly it.

I've thought of that, I think Pat Johnston has to. I believe that he has drawn up plans for the later/bubble canopy version. It would be an easy kit bash. 8)

I wanted a Spitfire, but none available in the size I wanted.  So I drew my own plans.  This one is 59" span, with RO-Jett 76 and retracting L.G.  The Top Flite canopy and interior were just the right size.

Among other Spitfires, his plans list contains bubble canopy Spitfires in a couple of sizes.

The Nose shape of Seafire 47 would be better to hide the engine but 17 is more graceful... if you get the cockpit shape and everything right.

Now those contrarotating props would be something to start.  Okay for electric I guess.  Who will be the first?

Floyd. your Spitfire looks great. H^^

I build one from the Brodak kit. LA 46. I like the 12x5 RSM prop. Flys great. Used as pattern, the original paint scheme from the famous Israeli Black Spitfire.
