I wouldn't use a 9" prop with an SS30 unless you want to fly fast. A 9.5 x 6 is ok but still fairly brisk, and a 10.5 x 4.5 seems about perfect.
My experience is that an hour's worth of 3-minute heat-cycling runs should be fine for break-in. Mine's got quite a lot of time on it now, but still starts and runs perfectly, with no detectable wear. As Dave says, you'd have a hard time wearing one out.
