I think that Dale Gleason built one several years ago. I saw it in a hobby shop in far north Dallas county about a year ago. I was tempted to buy it. But I have a dozen of my own and am building more. I bought one way back in around 1975 and flew it for awhile. The up line snapped coming out of a reverse wingover and it went in crankshaft first into the asphalt. Total loss. Pretty neat looking plane though. I have the tail and stab assembly built for a Stingray and I just finished a Rayette. Both jet styled stunters. I am waiting on recovery from a recent surgery to get some flights on the recently completed Rayette. Currently I am working on a 11% down sized Legacy. I had a foam wing for a S/Chipmunk and it is the same airfoil but a few inches shorter on span. So I am down sizing the whole plane. I think that a .40 will power it. Next I will build the full size Legacy w/ a new Avastar .46 to power it. Gotta love this stuff..............Jerry

Hi Jim,

Brother Randy Ryan has built the most drop dead gorgeous Sabre Stunt I have EVER seen.  I have only seen three (counting the pictures of Randy's) but his is beyond belief.  It has been shown down in the "Classic" section, and perhaps the Finishing or Building sections, too.

I will try to remember to search it out later on.  Got some serious building to get done tonight! LOL!!

(I have the wings built for Bob "Champione" Lampione's '69 NATS winning F-86 "Sabre", a "completely different" model, does that count?? LOL!! )

Yes Bill, Your right. Everytime I see that model I wish that I had one. Never saw one in real life. Jetco kits had very little following here. I built a few but never any of the premier c/L in their line up. Too pricy for a kid in the 50's
Randy did build the finest looking Jetco Sabre that I've ever seen on any forum. absolutly stunning.

Randy's Sabre is the inspiration behind every plane I put a finish on. It's absolutely unbelievable!

Well, Randy, unless there is something REALLY bad that we can't see in the pictures, that model would be, oh........ 19 or more points at the NATS. ;D  Front row is a gimme.

mine came in the mail. so I didnt have to pay for it.  I got a lot of stuff free. geo gave me a "nobler" never built it gave it away <----fugly airplane, but I did build the flite streak with a monoline stunt unit in it DK gave me that. Man that thing would make tight loops. never flew mono line before that, fun plane   I think that sabre was my 2nd favorite plane,  T'bird was 1st, hated th stuka and th Grumman Guardian. klunkers both. :o jim

Mark Hughes built one in the early nineties and took it to VSC. It was fast and fun to watch him fly it there.

How does it fly?  I built one as a kid.  It was my first full fuse plane so I don't remember much on how it flew.  Thinking about building another as I still have the plans.

It flys better then you would think, but its fast because of the thin wing. It also is prone to stalling as well for the same reason, you really have to fly this airplane through the turns, you can't hammer corners with it.

Hey!  That's my Chief parked next to the Skylark!  Flew it their twice,  first time with a small case Johnson "s" in it...came in second to Bob Baron without landing and pattern points on my last flight because I couldn't get it started quick enough and ran overtime.  Great little engine when it was running but I think maybe the low compression ratio and the thin Tucson air made it hard to start.

Next year it had a McGas .40 in it (McCoy .40 with the George Aldrich mods) which pretty much overpowered the little Chief.  Don't remember how well it did that year.  Still hanging on the wall  beside me as I type.

Hey Ted,
Nice Chief, too, it was! I set the Skylark there and told Mark to put his model down there too, hoping to glean some good appearance halo points from your flawless finish. Darn it if Bart wasn't the Appearance Judge and it took me 3 years to talk Mark into going back to VSC! They ended up sitting next to a wrinkly MonoKoted Magician ::)
