I am happy to hear that I'm not the only one disgusted by the way most celebs try to sing OUR anthem. Ive heard it butchered so many times by those who put their spin on it to make it there own. ITS NOT THEIRS, ITS OURS.
I was at a San Jose Giants baseball game a few years back and some skank tried singing the anthem as if she were trying out for American Idol. She was booed louder than Kirk Gibson at an Oakland A's Old Timer Game.

As should anyone be who insists on stylizing the Anthem.
I have sung the National Anthem at many College sporting events in Colorado, Phoenix and here in Tucson at the U of A. I always considered it a solemn honor, not a performance to be coveted.
It must have been what they wanted because I was called back many, many times...
Tells me that there are a lot of folks that agree with us.
The Super Bowl is about MONEY and the producers want famous names to impress the advertisers...and the famous names are usually more impressed with themselves than singing.
