  Where can I find some Jap tissue in the colors that they made years ago?
 If I can't find it in colors, how about white J tissue?   Thanks ...

I recently bought some from Easybuilt.
I got the house brand and while it worked out ok I'll probably try the Esaki from him next time.

I was in CVS a couple of weeks ago. By the card section I saw Jap tissue in a number of colors. I think this is sold to wrap gifts in. When I get ready to cover my model Lil' Jumpin Bean, that's where I'm headed!

Yes, Ty.  I cringe when anyone says "Jap".  It reminds me of my dad's rants during WWII.  He wasn't a bigot, but just about everyone, including the U.S. Government used the word.  Like the "N" word, it should be long forgotten.

Hi George. I'll bet that is NOT true Japanese tissue, but is made from wood and has no grain as Japanese tissue does, not unlilke very light silk span.

From my Free Flight days: 1965-1985 --

Genuine JapANESE tissue is hard to find these days.  If you can find some, it is applied dry.  Esaki brand is (was?) the best, but unfortunately no longer manufactured.  Some Free Flight sources (Peck Polymers, et al.) sell reasonable substitutes today.  The "good" stuff should have a shiny side and a definite "grain" direction.

Sand your framework, then apply 3 coats of dope, sanding between coats except the final one.  Lay tissue over framework, shiny side up, grain spanwise, pull as taut as possible, then apply thinner thru the tissue, which softens the dope and adheres the tissue.  When dry, trim edges with a new razor blade, then rub thinned dope thru the edges to seal it.

Shrink with a light mist of isopropyl alcohol or 50/50 water/alcohol.  When dry, apply multiple coats of 50/50 dope.
