The other day I was poking through some old boxes and found a flying handle given to me by Jack Sheeks sometime around '67 or '68. I am using that timeline because I moved to Michigan from Indy in late '68.
Anyway, it is engraved with Jack's name. No thong and the cable clamp is just a screw and a nut.
I don't have a use for it so I have pondered 3 choices:
1) Put it on eBay.
2) Offer it to AMA for the museum.
3) Send it to Shirley, Jack's widow.
I took two pix and even tried rubbing a pencil over the engraving but it just didn't come out well. Still, if you had it in hand, the engraving is clear and definitely says Jack Sheeks.
Your thoughts are appreciated.

I bet Shirley would appreciate it, or maybe she would go the museum route. Why not ask her advice?

Re-string it, use it and remember Jack.

I used to fly with Bob Gieseke back in the 70's and 80's. When I rejoined our club a few years ago one of the old time members remembered me and gave me one of Bob's handles. I use it now and every time I put on that thong, I smell that pipe smoke and a little voice in my head reminds me to "Fly the Flats"
So yes, keep it and use it. You will fly better with a handle that knows what it is doing.

I don't fly anymore. If I did, I would use a hard point handle.
