Its almost finished
« on: March 23, 2013, 09:08:34 PM »
I bet you thought it was my new plane. Well its finished and I am starting a new one. After getting excited about building some new electric equipment I decided to clean out my shop and start fresh. Well it has taken over a week to clear the runway. There was so much FOD here it filled 2 city dumpsters. I am not kidding. My buddy will come over this week and build me a new work bench along on wall about 12 foot long.

I added a second overhead light and I am going to take up the carpet to make it easy to clean. here are a few shots of the new shop.

Can't wait to see what comes out of the new shop!

Glad to see you did not throw the jug in the dumpster. :)

That is just way to neat and clean looking.   But, I guess you will make up for it with the new build.

I had curtains like that back in the late 70's. Nice looking shop of planes!

before

After

It had been about 5 years between clean up's. It took over a week to get it clean and there is a little more yet. With the addition of the new work bench (photo when finished) new lighting and I might take a wall out and open it up some more, I might be able to get some planes done without hangar rash before they leave the hangar.

Thanks. Please note the Viper on the wall built in 2001 and the first one built in 1991. The reason I bring this up is the Viper in SN is not mine.

Robert,

You have some great looking models. Really nice looking models. Kudos!!

I'll bet that curtain is to keep other CL guys from peeking in.

My workshop (a double-car garage) is fully carpeted.  The carpet prevents small parts dropped from bouncing, so they are easier to find.

I've got a rubber mat made from a horse stall liner. Very cushy.

Nice job, Sparky.  It will be easier to build and work once you get situated with the new lay out.

My workshop in the basement has linoleum we installed when we moved in about 30 years ago.  A couple floods and the linoleum has become brittle.  Not sure exactly how I will remove it if I do.

Keep at it, beautiful models.

It's called a scraper.   Looks like a hoe that has been straightened out.   I've seen it used on removing shingles from houses for reroofing.   I have one in the back yard, but I don't think you could afford my labor charges. LL~ LL~ LL~
