been way to long on the bench.......but it is nearly off.
Have ledouts to wrap, and wheels to add (with wheel pants) then it is done.....
Painted fuse, wing is SIG Aerokote, Will weight it when it is finished but so far is lighter than version 1 & 2........... next on the board....ANOTHER one..

Great looking plane, Wynn. I'm about to cover the wing of a Twister with Aerokote, and wondered how you liked it. Did it stick OK; any land mines I need to watch for, etc.? Glen

Great looking plane. Really like your graphincs. y1

Couple a' questions. What engine and what prop ??
T I A Gil
-
Glen,
SIG Aerokote is the number 1 iron on film in my opinion...I have used most others available. and find the the Arerokote sticks better, is easier to work arouund compound curves, and requires a LOT less heat than some others....it also paints well and using it for trim over itself is particularly easy......man it sounds like I should work for SIG HA HA
Gil, The engine is LA46......they are jst too easy to use......the prop is one that a friend made.....carbon fibre 12 x 4 modelled off the old BY-O blade shape....I have not used that particular prop as yet....but will give it a go and see how it fares

Looks like a boat prop. I like.
The plane also looks nice. Very effective paint scheme.

Hi Wynn
Great job , the color scheme looks really good, It will show up very well when flying too.
let us know how it works
Regards
Randy

Thanks Randy... A very cool design !!!!!!
I have the "one model" syndrome and the Vector 40 is it.....this is number 3, number 4 will be on the board by the end of the week.......then 5....then 6 etc etc.

Very Nice Wynn!!!!
Need to keep us posted on how it flys.
Maybe a shot of the whole fleet?
-
Paul........I only have V1 and 3 ...I sold V2 .......
will keep you posted on flights......

Very nice work Wynn. Thanks for posting the pictures. y1

Hey,
Great colors, graphics...
Am I guessing correctly, by the look of the coweling, that you're building from an ARC?
Ward
-
No, this was built from a kit...I dont do the ARF/ARC thing
The cowl is from the Brodak Ares kit.....the font part is fibreglass....I added the rest (to fit the vector fuse) from balsa....
I have a full set of pics of thie build, am planning on doing an article on it......on this one the main wing is removable....the next one will be fully take apart...

Wynn,
What do you call this plane again, and do you have a set of plans?
Is this the built up profile fuse?
-
Great looking "Vector 40" Wynn. I really like the colour scheme and the cowling. Is there any particular reason why you changed the cowl from the original? ie better cooling or was it purely for asthetics. Just wondering how heavy yours have been coming out with the Aerokote on them.

Warren

Wynn,
Beautiful plane. The cowl sure gives it a nice Classic look.
I am on V2 and would like to make the wing removable. Do you have any pictures of how you did yours? Did you do it like we do our R/C planes, with two dowels in the LE and two 1/4-20 Nylon bolts through the TE? Or??
Are you using the Sullivan 4-40 quick release (spring loaded) ball joint to disconnect the EL push rod from the flap horn?
TIA for any help you can give us on this.
-
verry nice!
i like it!
Weight and wing area?
David
-
Paul, the Yellow plane is called the Pizzazz.....it is a built up profile... probably the BEST profile airplane you can get...... They fly unbelievably well.
Dave, the plane is a Vector 40....I do not have the dimensions with me,....I have not weighed it yet.....once I have ALL the bits on, I will weigh it.
Warren, the cowl is just for Aesthetics.....I just like the way it looked, so chopped and changed it.....i think I will be doing that to all my Vectors now....it has turned out really well
Rudy, I have pics of the take-apart....I dont have my camera here at the moment, but I think I have some pics on disc....... I am using a standard 4/40 ball link with bolt and nuts at the moment...I am awaiting the quick release ball link......the way I have it, I have enough space to get a socket head driver in to tighten the nuts, so it is not too bad. HI Wynn,
I really like what you have done with the Vector. y1
It's a good idea to stick with one design, once you find one you like, since you will become very familiar with it! "Learning" comes a lot easier that way.
Nice work!

What's all this V1, V2, V3 stuff? Are there different versions? I bought my kit from Brodak, which one do I have?
Cheers
-
Warren,
V1- the first vector I built
V2- The second one I built
V3- the third one.
V4- the next one I buils
V5- the one after that.......it is just the "production" number....as in, I have now built 3 of them....they are all the brodak kit that you have.
-
That looks great! Oh and by the way those Cardinal Wheel pants you sent me look great too...
-
Warren,
If I haven't said it before, I'll say it now: That's a great looking build!

Wynn,
It's a beauty and the graphics on all your Vectors are exceptionally nice! I'd also like to see some detailed photos of your take apart!

As usual, it looks great Wynn!
I have not received V2 yet. How did you send it? LL~
I'm in the middle of my first Vector and looking forward to spring and it's first flights.
I'm very interested in seeing your build photos.
Keep us posted.
