Title: It's time to Paint and I don't mean the town
Post by: Leo Mehl on March 26, 2008, 06:11:35 PM
I decided it is painting season or I won't get these planes in the air. If the better half finds out I am painting in the house I will be in (As Harry would say) deep Manure, thats generic for S_ _ _. Thought I would start small and work my way up.  HB~>

I vote Mike Haverly as the fastest balsa whittler in the NW, he had his Freedom 45 done and painted in the time it took me to frame up a Vector .  He had the VSC Sheeks model flying when others were still on the bench or on paper.

Yup, I think you are right on that one. I only framed up 3 in three months. This is the trouble with winter. it gives us all cabin fever. and I think Mike has been retired longer than me. I just wish he hadn't made a new kit out of that Freedom 45. It looked really cool in the air. HB~>

That attic seems like a GOOD place to dope. I see a nice window for ventilation.  What could be better?

Leo,

If I built beautiful airplanes like you, painting would be a simple matter of shooting several coats of clear, or transparent dope.

No way I would cover workmanship like yours, with solid colors that would hide the structure beneath!  H^^

Hope to see you, the rest of the gang, and Paul on Sunday.

Bill
