I thought I would have this flying at the 2012 North West Regionals . . . then planned it for the 2012 Meet n Meat . . . then the 2012 GSSC . . . but for sure I would have it flying at the 2013 North West Regionals . . .
Well, it's almost done! Just a few little items, like getting a fuel filter and replacing a decal that lifted, but mostly it's done.
Not quite a standard Sig Super Chipmunk; I made some of the mods that DF used back in his youth. Sheeted wing made with equal panels for a 55 inch span. Added an inch to the stab/elevator, and 3 inches to the tail moment. Power will be an LA 46 with a Randy Smith needle valve and a Scott Dinger muffler. I'll be experimenting with props till I find a suitable one; looking to wind up with a 12.25 x 4.25 Brian Eather, or something close to that. Weight came in a bit heavier than I wanted, 56.5 ounces. Oh well. Seems to balance pretty close, but may be a bit nose heavy; I'll live with that until a few flights have been made and I see how it flys.
I'm heading on a 5 week trip soon, so I may just let it gas off until I get back. Dang! But it will be at the MnM for sure.
