It's almost good as my picture on the cover of rolling stone
« on: March 10, 2007, 07:28:15 AM »
Well I don't rock good enough to get my picture on the cover of Rolling Stone and I ain't athletic enough to get my picture on a box of Wheaties.................BUT...........I got a picture of one of my models on a kit box!!

Folks-----Larry at Black Hawk Models is using a  picture of my Auto-Giro that I built from one of his kits on the kit box for the Auto-Giro. Man that's most cool.

BHM puts out some great kits and if you haven't built one I recommend you give it a go. The kits are simple enough for a 13 year old to build in 3 hours or for an old fart to build a super looking model in 3 weeks.

Here's a picture of the model I built and a couple pictures of the kit box. I guess I'm going to have to add the plane and the box to my collection of......well...........collectables.

Here'a a link to BHM----

It could be that Larry made just this one label to get me to buy another kit.

Way to go. The only pictures that were ever posted of me was in the local bathroom.
They were going to put them in the ladies room but I did'nt want to give them my phone number. Now I am having a hard time selling them.

Frank that is an honor. Congratulations.

The best model I ever built was a dog made from Tinkertoys. I watched for the next ten years but they never did put a picture of it on the box. When I was 35 I finally gave up. It was a shame they never used it you could change from a Great Dane to a Dachshund by only changing four sticks,

Preston Briggs's cousin made a computer out of Tinkertoys.  It's in a museum in Arkansas.

Gee, you guys brought a tear to the old Captain's eye  :'( . If you send me a picture of that little tinker toy dog I will see to it that it gets posted somewhere that others can enjoy it too.

Frank,

I now have Mike Haverly's "JD Falcon" and Ron King's "Profile Roadrunner" on the new Blue Sky Models kit labels.. If you build one of my kits, you mightl be doubly famous!

Conratulation, Frank!  I never been on a kit box, myself.............. ;D

You did an excellent job on what appears to be a very nice kit.

Sorry all of the 8 1/2 by 11 "glossies" are gone but here is a crude sketch that should have enough information for someone that can scratch build a plane to make their own dog. Remember you can vary the neck, body, tail and leg lengths to get different breeds of dogs.

That's too tempting a sales pitch for me Tom. I'm going to your webpage next. Any hints as to which model?

Frank,

I forgot to mention that Joe Bowman's "Roadrunner" is also now on a kit label.

I have something in development for later this year, that might be interesting.

I am finishing the drawings for my "Top Hat" for Flying Models at this time, and then it will the new items.

We will have to talk in the near future
