2016 Stunt 'N Fun - Tom Morris
« on: November 11, 2016, 10:47:05 AM »
At our recently concluded 2016 Stunt 'N Fun contest, Tom Morris unfortunately suffered a heart attack while flying in competition. From what I heard, being Tom Morris, he calmly called John Simpson to the center circle and handed the airplane over to John and then laid down until the plane landed. Someone said Tom had already sold the airplane he was flying, so he didn't want to crash it. Just like Tom - always thinking about someone else.

I am just personally thankful to all of the capable people on site who helped in this emergency. Of course, I am sure most of you already know Tom is on the road to recovery and we are all most thankful for that. He now has his family with him and we all wish for his speedy and full recovery. I am sure I speak for most everyone when I say Stunt contests would not be the same without Tom's smiling face and all the wonderful goodies he brings to everyone.

Someone had the good idea to have a "missing man" photo taken to bring to Tom shortly after he was whisked off to the hospital. I have attached it here along with another photo of Tom taken at the contest.

I was in charge of the photos at this event, so I will post links to those in a day or two.

Get Well Soon Tom !!!

Nice pictures, Jim.

That guy in the gray shirt standing behind Gene Martine sure is a handsome devil!

The Smiths run a great contest, very laid back with an emphasis on fun. Lot's of nice touch's too. Printed score boards, picture memory handouts, they take the time to do raffles and get gifts from sponsors and just generally provide a warm and inviting atmosphere.

Compared to the old days when I would take a yard stick with a Sharpie and use the back of old blue-prints for scoreboards, these fella's really class up the joint and make me look like a schmuck. Well done, and thanks Smiths!

The MCRC club, with many of it's RC members pitching in, even made us breakfast, did lunch concessions, helped with prepping the field, camped out with their R/V's overnight to keep our out of town RV'ers company, and helped cleanup afterwards. For those of you that still want to hold a grudge with the old days of R/C snobbery of C/L, don't bring those worries to our field, because that attitude doesn't exist here. These guy treat us like long lost family and are always willing to help, and take an interest in what we do. They even give us their runway for our contest and they can't fly R/C that weekend. Good leadership from the top helps of course, but regardless, these are a great bunch to share a field with.

Tom Morris is one cool customer. Even when I first saw him in the hospital, he was cracking wise about the group photo, and was immediately trying to put you at ease that all was ok. He doesn't really follow on here, but it never hurts to wish someone well.

Get well Tom, and don't scare us like that!

Trying to contact Tom Morris for a friend.  I sent an email from the Hobby Shop but still no reply.  A friend was hoping to put an order in for a Christmas gift.  No phone number listed.

What's the latest on Tom Morris. I need a few things but don't want to impose, I'm sure others feel the same, until he's up to it.

Thanks for the report Rich,  We need to let Tom get his health back completely.   So, the next time you talk to Tom, tell him old DOC Holliday says for him to get well and healthy. H^^
