Title: Is this of any value?
Post by: peabody on November 07, 2013, 12:10:27 PM
I was contacted by a guy from PA about this.....I hate to raise his hopes if he makes the effort to take it to the GSCB Swap Meet November 24th.
I imagine those sparkers make a Helluva racket.....and, to add to the challenge, the lead-outs come out on the left....Dave Cook, Jerry Phelps, Rich Giacobone and Bob Gost fly backwards....

If you have any interest, contact me and I'll put you in touch with the guy.

Thanks

A pair of OK Super 60s!  Nice!  That muffler just seems to be spoiling the fun.

OK Super 60s go for around $100 each on Ebay when complete.  The missing exhaust stack and modified/changed needles shouldn't effect their value too much.  There's some value there.

My two cents on this one...

YES, there is value in this model.

It's a super cool old model as is, and represents our C/L history, at least to someone or some of us. It is too often forgotten these days, but there is value in that itself. y1

Please don't go "short attention span", get greedy, and tear the engines off or dismantle it in any way just to try to make a buck or two that won't matter to anyone in a few weeks. If anything, restore it just enough to fly it once more just so you can say you did, and then hang it on the wall and admire it. If going after that risks losing the model altogether, then just hang it on the wall as is.

Either that, or give it to someone who appreciates the "value".

Please understand that this model is in the possession of an RC flier that asked me of the value and mentioned that he may attend the GSCB Swap Meet with it....

I am in Florida and don't plan to attend.....

Understood, and thanks for the information.

I'm not at all trying to be an a_ _ here, and I mean no offense, but I just really dig this old stuff. Finds like this one are few and far between anymore. Granted, we're just talking about a "toy airplane", but FWIW please feel free to forward my previous response to whoever has possession of this piece of history. This is one of those situations where the old saying applies, "If I have to explain, you wouldn't understand".

The model has obviously survived a long time already, it would be just a shame to see it dismantled in any way. Hopefully someone will end up with it who truly appreciates the "value".
