  I expect this (and many other similar occurrences) will have the expected effect - that drones and anything associated with them will end up heavily regulated. We have just seen the tip of the iceberg as far as capabilities go (good and bad)

Do a quick search for "flamethrower drone" or "pistol on drone".  Idiots have done this and posted on youtube.

On the other hand you could google “Transmission Line maintenance drone” or “Survey Drone” to see some of the positive applications.

   There's absolutely no question that the technology is impressive and has many very useful and valuable applications, including recreation. But the AMA and everyone else involved seems to be hell-bent on exploiting and excusing and ultimately removing any accountability for the many irresponsible uses.
