IS CONTROL LINE CENTRAL still in business?
« on: September 21, 2012, 11:08:05 AM »
I see the website note. I am considering ordering the control componets I need from somewhere else if they are way behind on their orders...  :'(

I know loyalty runs deep here.

But are there friendly alternatives to purchase specialty items from another location as an option here?

i.e.  CLC was seemingly the only source for some components.
UNLESS you custom fabricate all your own stuff, which is great, but in the case of guys'gals that don't....

All I know is what I've been told....order your Tom Morris stuff direct from Tom. I've met Jim and his wife at VSC, and I hope things get better for them,  CLC aside.  H^^ Steve

I think phone or email is it. Contact info should be available via PAMPA list,  your closest Expert builder/flier buddy, or even the Stunthanger or SSW membership roster.  I have: ctmorris at cableone dot net, but don't know if it's current.   H^^ Steve

Last time I talked to Tom was at the Brodak fly-n in June.  He said he was going to start up his own web site so we could buy from him direct and eliminate the problems people were having getting his stuff.  Don't know if it's up and running yet though.

I have bought from CLC several times in the past and not had a problem.  However, last May, I received a Tom Morris Bellcrank assembly and was billed $19.19 for it.  I wrote a check and mailed it right back.

Time went by and the check never was presented to my bank.  I called several times and got a voice mail box that was full.  I tried emailing without any luck.  A couple of weeks ago, I wrote a letter to Jim expressing my concern that the check had not cleared and I wanted to be sure he got his money.  I enclosed a SASE and another letter that was a short list of choices that all he had to do was check off his choice of action, ( Check lost, please replace, Check in hand but I haven't cashed it, Check never received.) and mail it back.  I sent it certified mail, signature required.  A week or so later, I got the certified receipt back, showing a signature.  I have not received my SASE.

So, at this point, I still have an open debit in my check register and Jim does not have his money.  That's the part that really bothers me because vendors need to be paid in order to stay in business.  It is indeed a mystery.  I certainly hope that everything will work out for CLC and the time will come, when once again, they can be a reliable source of C/L products.

In my dealings with CLC I have never had a serious problem.   But, I wrote a check for my Church and it was a year before it cleared the bank.  Turns out it was on the banking  end of it.

Last order I placed with CLC went on for quite some time.

Then I received a refund and an apology for the extended time and not being able to respond to my order.

They also added a statement on their web page in alignment with this.

I believe they are just as honest and well intentioned as always.

Just as everyone who knows them here has stated.

With that being said.....

Us builder guys, need parts!

I'd still buy from them when the kinks are worked out.

But the balsa calls!

And quite frankly.....

I wanna fly!!!!

I wanted to order some stuff too.
Hope they get back in business ASAP.

I ordered a control system for a stiletto kit i had, sent the check and nothing. Some months later the system appeared on my door step and my check cleared. The control system was perfect, not the ordering system. H^^ Ron.

Isn't there a line in a Beatles song that states  "Life is what happens while you're making other plans?" Or was it just John Lennon? Anyway, the word has been out that they are having troubles and are trying to work through things? Sounds to me like they are being as upfront and honest about the situation as they can be, and the disclaimer is pretty clear no matter how long it's been up. I haven't ordered anything from them to save them and myself any aggravation. There are ways around it. There are some in this world that have things going on in their lives that make what some would call a normal life very difficult. If you don't have an elderly parent, sick family member, personal health issues, job and financial troubles, or anything of the like, consider yourself VERY lucky. Some could be dealing with all of these and more. Let's all hope and pray that they get past this tough time and get back to what's "normal."
  Good luck and have fun,

I've gotten my graphics from Emily in a timely manner and she calls me back and forth sometimes for measurements, etc. I haven't ordered in 18 months or so but always liked their service and pricing.

I would strongly second what Dan has said.  These are good folks and I'm sure they have very good reasons for what is happening.
I too hope with all my heart that things get better for them and they are able to return to their former way of doing business.  In the mean time please trust them to do their very best.
