Dan's got a lot more grit than this old crippled up veteran. I have a plan for flying this one, gonna need to be anchored to the pylon, so I'm building a special 2-handed C/L handle. I will have my left arm crooked at the elbow, around the pole, and will control the throttle, and keep me in place while my right hand will control pitch. Not even gonna attempt the pattern....just want to say I built it, and flew it. Then I will have one last/best personal achievement to tell! I may turn it over to someone that's gonna be at Brodak's, we'll see. LOL G-man? The Super-Duper(SRM)? He's got photos posted over at the "Ring" in the albums section. Plus a lot more amazing and impressive things he has going on. Yer welcome to visit I'm sure.

Unless you have difficulty flying anything, this plane isn't so big that it would pull you over! I regularly fly 62" span stunters with 60 engines, and the pull is only moderate.

What engine is that? Can't see all of your fuel tank, but it does seem pretty small.

George Gaydos Jr. built a 2X Ringmaster many years ago......Windy flew it with no problems but noted that it should have 100' lines....

I have a 2 x buster, a Scale builder built it for fun ,then I inherited it when he quit flying ,

when you make things two times bigger, the size really gets out of hand, seems simple, but it gets real big , real fast, a problem just to take to the field, , let alone fly,

It was at Brodak's one year, I think he and Dan flew at same time ,

That's an OS .91 hand-me-down from Dennis Lipsett, R/C throttled engine, the tank is 4 ounces, I have another tank that's the same size mounting, but longer[in case I want to go for longer flight times, LOL. The W/S is 84". It wouldn't take much to pull me over these days, the doctors have taken just about everything I like to eat off the menu. I'm down in the #150s now. I am pretty much blind in my right eye, and get the dizzy's, so I fly everything around a pylon to keep from falling down on the job.

Yes John, it was an S-1.

George was a Champion scale builder, so it was true to scale, including the pollywog airfoil.

Any idea how the weight is going to come out? Seventy ounces isn't all that bad. Eighty is uncomfortable, I hear. Paul's B-17's were just over 100 oz, and it was pretty clear that they pulled hard.

80oz so far....3 more panels on the wing to cover w/the modern[light] monokote[which I now hate].

The airplane is my Ringmaster 2X kit. It has an 84" wingspan and 1526 square inches of wing area. The airfoil is not the original Ringmaster "polywog", it is a modified Eppler 479. The wing is 3 5/16" thick at the spar. The chord is 20 3/8" at midspan and 16 1/2" at the tips. The kits are $260.00 shipping included in the continental US.

I fly a 96" span B-29 in profile scale and an 80" sport model. The B-29 comes in at 13 lbs, and the 80" sport model (designed to carry a camera) comes in at 12 lbs. They both pull hard, but since they both have throttle I can make it managable.

THe adjustable leadout guide are important to keep the the line tension down

You can put 2.4 Ghz throttle control that if you wanted and wouldn't affect the lines

If the plane is trimmed right, it should pull no harder than a normal stunt/sport plane. Of course I guess I could go down and do the first test flight for him.
