YES!!.........Here in the Northwest (Salem,OR), the weather was near perfect on Sat. morning. Enjoyed 9 great flights.....then at about 1:30 the heavy drizzle started.
Home and back to building.

We are going to try and get out Tuesday morning. Only problem as it heats up we need to change fuel with more nitro.

A lot of great flying at Fleming Park(aka Lake Jacomo). F2D combat with 15 entries. Ford said it 105F on the way home Saturday. Cooled to 101F on the way home Sunday afternoon. Pics in combat section. H^^
By the way any kind of flying in the summer requires a lot of moisture for the body. Mainly water. I like a small dab of lemon juice in mine with no sugar. jeh

Just normal summer heat here in southern New Mexico (for August!).. 105F ;->

No flying here in triple digit heat. It is just too hot for this old worn out body to be very active outside. My house A/C is having trouble keeping the temp below 80* inside.......
An aside: my youngest son spent a summer in Mesa Arizona at the community college getting ready to play football there (he got the call from NC State instead) and they told the players to keep checking the moisture in their crotch. The extra low humidity caused their skin to be dry everywhere else, and if they got dry there, they were in real need of water! Makes good sense.

Well a dry low humidty heat is easier to take, than the wet high humidty type heat. BUT low humidity will rob you of water and make you sick much more than high humidity. Raised in one type now live in the other. I prefer 68 degrees, 40% humidity, 3 mph breeze at my back with the sun there too. Only in my dreams does this exist. H^^ LL~ LL~
That describes summer in Fairbanks! It did get up close to 80 yesterday though. You might not like the winters though... :o

I only visited Fairbanks for a short period, but Anchorage felt downright tropical by comparison (it was spring).

In AZ (Tucson and Phoenix specifically), we go through this every summer.
Yes we still fly anthough a little less. Two or Three days a week (wind permitting) we start about 6-7 AM and quit between 9 and 10 AM.
Temps start out at about 85 and we quit when they reach 104 or so.
But remember it's a "Dry Heat"... Sure!!!! n~ n~

Yup, other coast of FL from Gene, same weather though, flew Sat & Sun, and plan to go tomorrow on the 4th too! #^

We are having a heat wave here in West Virginia, just went out and put a couple flights on the Nakke, it's doing pretty good, it's supposed to hit around 95 degrees today, it was about 85 when I went out, not bad, but no breeze. %^@

Here in western Illinois it's 94, I didn't go flying but I thought about building my PT-19 ARF and actually ran my Evo 36 on the bench for the first time since I lawn darted it over 2 years ago. lol Runs great. My dog Bear was supervizing. But now were making sure the cool air inside doesn't go to waste.

Hey Gene- I wondered about you last week, wondering if you needed life jackets there with Debby. Here in KC it's been 100+ with 17-30 mph wind non-stop for almost three weeks now. It's supposed to give us break on Friday for 3-4 days then start raining for days. If that's how it goes I'll head to Muncie very early next week and fly at the city field until we can get on the AMA site. See ya there!

Well I got a break of sorts today. I received a notice from the USPS to clean the pine needles off my front walk so they can get to the house/mailbox. Living in a pine thicket means pine needles everywhere.
Since the shade temp was only 100 I took the rake and cleaned off the 100' or so of my front walk. Didn't take long but it is the first real "work" I have done so far. Pretty tired but I didn't over do it. Seems like the mail man should be used to pine needles around here............

Well I just got in from watching the Grandaughter and the team win both games of another double header. They went undefeated for the season, which was just the month of June. Tonight was make up game from a rain out. They played every Tuesday and Thursday except for one Saturday game.
Dave T., too bad you had to work. The field and air at Fleming Park was great. Just enough breeze to blow the turbulanc away. Fun watching streamer falling almost straight down when cut loose. Now break a prop in Muncie and have fun. H^^

I went and flew the Bearcat this morning. Rebecca went with me to see it fly and launch if necessary. No one was there so it was up to her. She liked the rear exhaust motor as it is a lot cleaner for her. She said I looked the most relaxed she has seen me in years/ The Bearcat is easy to fly and it is very smooth. It is still hard to believe this plane can fly this good. We quite about 11 AM as it was 90 degrees and climbing fast.

July 4, 2012, 11am, Renton, WA. It's 70F in the shade, very little wind, giant glowing orb in a bright blue sky. I could go flying, but I don't think anybody is around. Howard's probably at Arlington with his new electronic dog. P.Ferg might be around, but more likely working on his various rental properties. Mike's out on the boat, Pete P. is no doubt BBQing some sort of protein. Randy, if you want to go to Auburn Muni, give me a holler! @@^ Steve

Jacksonville, FL is well over 400 Sq. Miles in size. Depending what part of town you lived on the rain fall was between 13 in. - 15 1/2 in. Some parts was flooded out, a few bridges was closed or washed out. We live on the west side of town in a 8 year old home with excellent drainage. To answer your question, we did just fine. No water damage, just greener & taller grass.

No rain in over 20 days....dry as a tinderbox in Tulip. Under a WildFire alert....the fire department has been back and forth through here all day fighting a fire. I'm sitting here in nothing but cutoffs and flipflops. 8)

100* and getting ready for a hamburger cook out with one #1 son and celebrating our Anniversary. Would have liked to get out and at least try to fly.......... :'( Still too soon.......

Gene, glad to hear you are okay in Jacksonville. I know where it's at from the trips I have made to visit daughter. Th new by pass makes it easier now. Still have not heard from her.
Our Church had a cookout instead of service 4th of July evening. After eating I tried to fly the 1/2A's in an area where the outdoor pavilion used to be. Learned real quick to fly over a small tree on one side of the circle. Even remembered to fly over during inverted flight also. First flight was a laugh as the engine came off about the third lap. Ever seen a Hacker land with out an engine. Driving home with the wifes tea cup chihuahua asleep behind my neck, I looked at the thermometer and thought, how cool it felt at 94F degrees. Need to get air conditioner fixed in the old Ford. H^^

I spent the day overhauling the lawnmower then mowing the hay. I'm considering a hay baler. Also washed car.
I set up with PFerg to fly on Saturday, but I have an appointment to have the car serviced on Saturday at 10am. Might be able to come after that.

Its hot as hell in NOLA, usually 95F° & 95% humidity, and will be for next 2 months. I still fly but only before 9am or after 5pm, only way its bearable.

Today we flew 10am to noon. Sort of. It hit 96 in Philly at 2pm. Tomorrow I will do the same. If you angle your chair right, you can recoup in the shade. I drink Starbucks ice coffee and 7/11 trash water. They both help (and hurt). 7/11 trash water causes hallucinations. For a moment I thought I fly in Advanced.

We had several flying sessions at Auburn Muni yesterday (July 8 ) and at least one today. It must have gotten up to 80F in the shade, maybe. I brought the sunshade today, and we enough chairs for all. Pete Peterson, Pete Ferguson and myself flew. Eric Healy showed up about 11:15, after he got off work, but didn't have his stuff with him to fly. We started packing up about noon, 'cause we all had enough flights in.
P.Ferg was flying his electronic ARC SV-11, P.Peterson was flying his Starfinder, and I was flying my Eagle 7 again...
first time this year, I think. Kinda starting over on trimming, as I shattered the prop and used the handle on the SV-11. :-[ Steve

Heck, I am flying every day! It has only been over 105 once so far this summer. MUCH better than last year!

Luna Moth? Looks like it's lying in wait for Randy to paint one of his planes, so it can land right in the middle of some wet dope or clearcoat...and die, right there on the spot, like roadkill. LL~ Steve
