Title: Invert Handle
Post by: john e. holliday on February 10, 2017, 09:16:40 AM
Just seen this listing on the bay.  Has to be a real collector piece as I had heard of them, but never seen one.  I think it would thoroughly confuse me to use it.  No it is not my listing as I live in Kansas.  Item #142274028982. n~

Both Jim Walker and Francis Reynolds tried this back about mid 40's, both quickly found out this was not the way to go! Francis Reynolds?? Designer of the Moitle biplane, a really good OTS model, rarely seen.

You could grab that handle up-side-down two different ways!

Francis Reynolds was a University of Washington Engineering Professor. I should ask my brother if he remembers having a class from him. One friend of mine was a student under Francis Reynolds and liked him a lot.

And Chris Cox flew a Moitle around here for awhile. He recently wrote that the engine stopped dead overhead in the OH8, and well, you know what happened next. Chris was not injured, but it was close!  H^^ Steve

Dan Banjock had one at the NATS last year.  Seems like it was spring loaded, just flip the lever and...  Looked like a good way to crash.

If you want a heavy handle, try a Darwin all metal cast handle.  I have a couple from Mr Meriwether estate.
